I did get a complete, and I mean complete, wiring harness, PCM, gas pedal, TAC module, brake switch and both fuse panels from a 04 GMC that had a 5.3. From head light to tail light.

If anybody wants to chime in and offer suggestions on modifying the harness, please do.

Sweet score on grabbing a complete harness! Where you start modifying really depends on what you want to keep - O2 sensors and so on. I've found that working the sections one at a time - for instance, just working on passenger's side of the block) helps to keep things straight. Once you unloom things, it can get a bit messy if you're not careful.

As far as the radiator goes - you could do what I did - I mounted a stock style radiator to the front of the core support, instead of to the rear - that bought me about 2.5" of space, so I was able to squeeze a fan in there without modifying the firewall. The front of the core support isn't flat, it has a flanged edge, you can use washers or a piece of bar stock to space it forward just enough to clear the flange. I'm running a high flow 16" fan, about 3-7/8" depth.

Also picked up a Camaro oil pan. Don't have it in the shop as it's at my US shipping address. Just have to go and get it. It's a brand new F-body oil pan (GM p/n - 12628771) It comes with the pan, oil pan gasket, baffle, pick-up tube, and oil pump o-ring. $215 US shipped. Close to $300 Canadian but our dollar sucks right now.

Thanks for the info JJorgensen52. I will check out your build and see how you did things. What you did with the rad would save a bunch of work and money. Looking at vette front accessories to try and pull things closer the block. Your way may save me!

Sid your exhaust manifolds look good. I will keep that idea in mind for mine. Hats off to you guys that modify the stock harness.

Thanks AD. All I have in that harness and PCM and the other stuff is $150 so it's worth a try to modify it. Actually now that I think about it, I got all that and pwr steering pump, engine cover and flywheel for that price. I plan on attempting to modify the stock harness but we will see once I get into it. Old wires, connectors and such.

Another question. I have no idea on brake boosters or hydro boost or any of that stuff. How do I go about choosing one? I don't mind a chrome booster under the hood. Spill it guy's! I'm really dumb on that subject. Gotta have an idea on what I want to do so I can plan out the firewall.

1st gen S10 booster and pedal bracket assembly - I used the big, 11" dual diaphragm booster for my mockup.

I'm considering swapping down to the 9" dual diaphragm that the first gens used, but: I have a friend, older gentleman, who has been building racecars and doing restomods for a living for YEARS - he's had a bunch of bad experiences with customers bringing in cars with compact, universal Hot Rod boosters that just weren't up to snuff for stopping a car with discs and so on. So I designed around being able to use the 11" booster, which is what the 2nd gen S10 uses (and that's what my brakes are).

nice job on the header. that wiring looks fun!! I actually don't mind wiring but dang. are you going to use the harness to wire the whole truck? or get an aftermarket harness and use this for the engine? seems its what most guys do.

Thanks for the links JJ. That makes me feel better about mounting my rad. What rad is that from R'n'D Fab and about how much was it? What fan is that too? Didn't see any part #'s in your build thread. Nice to see you have done the hard work of figuring out the hoses too for me. LOL!

Not sure on the wiring harness yet 99. I just grabbed everything I could. Not afraid of wiring either. Plan on having the fuse panel and PCM in the cab somewhere. I want to hide as much of the wiring in the engine bay as much as possible.

I'm at a point where I have to spend some good $$ to move forward. Rad, gas tank with pump, lines etc. That much $$ is hard to pull off with the wife all at once. A few hundred here and there I can slip by.

Found your rad JJ. I'm assuming you got the fan from them too. I will have to look into a more cost effective solution. That would be around $1000 by the time I get that here in Canada and with today's exchange rate.

From the looks of your engine Intake manifold, you have a drive by wire. Did you happen to get the Electronic accelerator petal and TAC box? If you also have the fuse block there are only about five wires you need to hook up to make the "stock" wiring harness run the engine/tranny. Good luck, and your project looks great.

Yes it is DBW and I did get the pedal and TAC box from the same truck the ECM and harness came out of. 04 GMC.

The fan I got from DeRale, I'd have to dig out the part number but it wasn't terribly expensive.

The nice thing about the R and D radiator is the mounts are the same shape as stock - so I could have installed a stock radiator, or any stock replacement, the same way.

Manifolds look good I think it should work fine. Only thing I see is you might have to open up the bolt holes a bit because of the new angle.

I think you are right lower. Found a set of used Hooker LS cast headers for a decent price so I will see how those fit when I get them.

Started putting the engine back in the frame and cab back on to make sure I make enough room in the firewall. I'm pretty tight with truck accessories and stock rad location. Been searching radiators and wow! information over load. Anybody have a part number for a rad they used with an LS? All I pretty much see is "I used a champion and fit great". Champion offers so much.

Kinda thinking a rad with inlet and outlet both on the passenger side. Any suggestions on that? I have found one but too much $$$ especially to get it up here to Canada and with how our dollar sucks to the US dollar.

I had my 4 core rad custom made from a local rad shop for $700.
As for the brake booster. I have a spare hydro boost from a astro van, if you want it it's yours.

F Y I on the PRC radiator.
Ask them how they get the ram air out of the shroud (providing you have one) when you use a electric fan?

I thought about taking my stock rad to a place and see if they can duplicate it for my V8. Maybe I will.

I'm out to lunch on master cylinders, hydro boost etc. Is there an advantage to running hydro boost over vacuum? I will be running 1996 Vette front and rear disk brakes. May take you up on your offer. Mighty fine of you.
