Microswitch

I have an Edelbrock Performer carb. on my 1969 GMC 396 with THM 400 Trans. Has anybody out there ever used the Edelbrock #72280 Microswitch and Bracket as the kickdown switch for passing gear? If you have, is a relay necessary...and what Amp rating? Thanks to anyone who can help me out. P
