Me too. I'm glad to see any of the pictures you pull up.

I knew this guy from China who moved here in the '70s. It was his dream to be an American. He grew up loving western movies and the car scene...evrything American. I always get a kick out of what he once told me..."When I come to San Francisco,first thing I do is buy Winchester rifle and go to desert and shoot that thing",with a grin from ear to ear.

I was trying to keep it "truck" related, but if cars are fair game I'll throw a few more in.

Here are a few from my growing up years:

Me, with my first car (...the red one...):



The Pontiac shown is a '63 Catalina; built as a Super Duty car, it was built with the aluminum front package (hood, fenders, bumper) and aluminum decklid. Sadly, this is the only still photo I have of this car.

The '64 shown above was the first GTO in the twelves, at least here locally.


Our '64 on display at the Michigan State Fair, fall of 1964:

Me, doing my first engine teardown (a '69 GMC straight six), while the GTO sleeps behind me:

The '64 Lemans was a factory mule car, purchased from the GM Milford Proving Ground. It came equipped with a 421 cubic inch engine (and close ratio 4 speed) and was actually quicker than our '64 GTO race car.


Lastly, this is not a "vintage" shot, but it is a "vintage motif". Here's how the GTO looks today:

Not many trucks in these pictures, but they're still pretty neat !!

Lockheed Aircraft factory in Burbank, California during World War II.

The first picture shows how it looked BEFORE the camouflage was put up.

The second picture shows how it was "disguised" to look like a normal countryside.

The third picture shows the top of the burlap covering with its fake houses and trees.

The fourth and fifth pictures show how it looked under the covering.

It's easy to forget how close we came to having the war fought on OUR soil !!!

Couple more new ones.

The front end only shot was taken at my Grand parents home in some desolate area of Nevada nearest town at the time was Fallon. Late 1970's

The other one is of me, and that's my Sis out on a target shooting trip in the high Desert of SoCA. North of Victorville IIRC. Mid 1980's

Wonder what the DOT man today would have to say about that Corvair yankin' that big bodied GTO?

They're pulling over everything in NC right now. You can be pulling your lawnmower on a utility trailer and they'll pull you to check you out. Must be real hard times at the govt. I am all legal (to my knowledge), but I've been waiting to get pulled over in the 'Burb while yankin' our camper.

Yep - back then there were no brake lights hooked up on the towed car; some guys would write "RACE CAR IN TOW" on the back window in shoe polish - we didn't even do that.

No way would I try that today....especially where I live now.

Me too,I wish you had one and I wish I did. I tried taking a picture but the flash reflects on it. One time I gathered up a bunch and had Walmart do a CD and it's only a buck,I think. I might gather up some more and scoot on down to Wally World.

My dad as I have posted before is retired GM Chevy division. If I had all his pictures man this thread would just be insane. It would literally take me weeks to scan everything.
Some day I will start if he ever lets me have them.

The Chevy flag is one of 2 that I have. They were the flags that flew over the Biltmore in Asheville, NC back in the late 70's. My dad was in charge of a show they did there. He had these in his garage ever since. Back during the spring my wife was up visiting them and asked him about them. He gave her both of them.The other one is at our beach house. I fly it when I'm there.

The truck originally came with the black lock ring wheels, and the white ones you see on the burb every once in a vintage picture I post. Those where the "Off road" wheels and tires, my Dad bought them from a neighbor who had a '69 K20 PU after he put slot mags on.

So, the slang around the house those days were. "whites" were off road noisy bias ply's, and the "blacks" where the highway tires for long trips pulling the trailer.

The truck has always had the Dana Spicer hubs, even to this day the original D44 closed knuck is still there.
