Texas to Alberta - Still rocking 72' license plate

When I lived in Texas, I love the fact I could use a 1972 plate (tag) on my C10.

Now that I'm in Canada, I found a 1972 plate here for cheap, and was able to register the truck with it! Technically they say it's for driving to/from car shows, parades, etc, but I plan to use it all the time until I get in trouble.

In SK we can do that too. I was told at the licensing issuer that I am good with my 67 plates but if I leave the province or go to the US my back modern SK plateshould be put on.

That's cool you can register it on the old plate in AB. I don't think we can in BC but I picked up a '70 plate for mine for the front and I'll run legit on the rear.

They gave me a new 'antique' Albert a plate too. My printed registration includes both this 1972 plate number, plus the new antique Alberta plate number. I plan to at least carry the new antique plate with me in the car, incase I ever run into any trouble with the 1972 plate.

Nice truck . NY will let you use plates from the year of your car/truck but charge you 25 bucks a year extra . I just use magnets and put the old plate on at the show .

In Ontario we can use Year of Manufacture plates as long as its the same year as the truck. Plates need to be sent to Ottawa so they can confirm they are the same paint and in good condition. Oh, and they charge $250 to "look" at them.

Re: Texas to Alberta - Still rocking 72' license plate

Great looking all original looking truck. I'm fine with YOM plates on all original vehicles but it seems rather lame on a radically modified one.

The thing that gets most YOM, Classic or antique plate guys in trouble is having the same law enforcement officers see the vehicle parked at a place of work every work day.

This state will issue a classic or antique plate to anything over 20 years old and I am seeing more abuse of that to the point that they will either drop those plates or do as they should and move the cut off date back to a lot more years. I only own one vehicle that doesn't qualify for classic plates by age. Most of those rigs have not ever been even to the free cruise nights let alone registered at open shows.
