That's pretty trick! How many gallons can you hold? Nice and clean install in a beautiful truck.

Very nice, I'm also curious about the capacity too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Thanks guys, it’s a 60gal tank so I have the sending unit read empty when there’s about 20 gallons remaining. Even though the tank is baffled the pump was still starving for fuel under hard acceleration and left hand turns. I might install a sump at some point but for now I’m just enjoying being able to drive more than 100 miles between fill ups.

Tried engine cleaner but it really didnt work at all. The gunk stuff they must have changed the formula
I use Gunk on some things, but always follow that with degeaser. With the hot pressure washer I just used degreaser. The wand was a bit long, but being a 4x4 I had enough room to maneuver underneath. The 200+ degree water with high psi did a nice job.

Removed my camshaft and lifters today. No mechanical issues found. It is a Gen I 5.3L 327ci that was rebuilt at some point. Next I will be replacing the valve springs and start cleaning it up for paint.

For someone mechanically challenged like me, adding the legal license plate light was a cinch! (previous owner put new bumpers on, but not this) And it worked first time!

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Installed a steel lever kit in my heater controls and replaced the defroster ducts. Got the parts from GMCPauls, and the quality is top notch on both.

Also installed some stock valve covers that I bought from Ironhorse. Still need to find a grommet for the breather.

I cut down the stacks to be able to pull into my garage if I need to.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Started putting the Inline Tube brake lines on my truck. Got the two rears along the rear end to the tee and flex line installed. Moving to the long line under the cab next.

New carb in - drove it to a cruise in last weekend and took this pic. This week I am checking timing and finishing up the set up. Went with a 500CFM on the engine. It's running great - very happy with the upgrade.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Found what I consider to be a super nice door to replace my damaged door. I've been looking all over and everything has been excessively rusty so far. Found this one 15 minutes from my house at a private wrecking yard that's not open to the public. The guy there was super nice and helpful. I have been stressing out about being able to find a nice door, so this is a big relief.

Nice . I’ve been looking for a set for the 68 stepper. I bought a decent passenger door but would like rust free ones. May have to take a road trip to Phoenix to visit the cousin. And do some scrounging

Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Been wanting to get the letters shadowed now for awhile. Well today it got done and I also did the wheels on the 64 SS Impala while he was here at the house.
Those pictures will be in the general area.

I can only imagine how hard it must be to find clean doors in NY

Hard to find a 8 year old truck with no rust.

Found a place top mount tires on original friction ring wheels. Sanded and painted wheels and cleaned up hub caps as best I could. I will only use these for pictures and shows but I like the original look.

Question Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Pulled the cluster out to see what happened to the tach.

Stud is broke off inside of it. I will have to call Manes in the morning to see if they will warranty it. It's less than a year old.
It just spins around it's not attached to anything. I can pull it up but not out.

Lowered the bench seat 2 inches with Full Custom Fab brackets, and wired up my audio system (Kenwood h/u and Infinity 4" and 6.5" speakers) from scratch.
