Re: Project "The Beibs" (For now...)

So I have decide on paint color and interior color...

Wife and I discussed it and we are going to paint the truck black and then use the tan interior. Going to go almost stock interior with the high back bucket seats and center console. What do you think?

Nothing wrong with that.

Just sat down and read the whole thread, Its really cool that your daughter WAS interested in a older truck. Maybe she will actually want it when its done, by the way, I'm 15 and have been speaking wrench since shortly after I started walking. Down here where I'm at your lucky to find a girl that likes hotrods/classic-trucks.. half of them would think your trucks fixing to blow up if they hear a over-sized cam.

Re: Project "The Beibs" (For now...)

Sorry there hasnt been an update in a while life has been a roller coaster ride over the past 6 months or so. I sold the beibs... But, before you all go crazy its a bit of a heartbreaking story on the why.

Roughly 6 months ago my step daughter (the one who I was building this with/for) had to attend the funeral of her father. (He was still an active part in her life and it was a very abrupt and unexpected death). There for a while she didnt even want to come out of her room much less do anything on the truck. I was driving it and keeping up with maintenance and doing odd jobs on it.

Well, fast forward 6 months... Yesterday, her stepmother called her and asked her if she wanted her fathers truck. Long story short and a little $ transfer later she is now the PROUD owner of this:

It is a 2001 Silverado (SWB 2WD V6 Automatic with 171K miles) that her father bought brand new. He babied this truck and took excellent care of it. Right before his death he was involved in a hit and run on the drivers side so I get to do some repair on that. However, I havent seen her this happy since he passed and I am more than ok with helping her get this one back to its former glory. This truck isnt a show winner but the sentimental value that it brings makes it worth more than a brand new $50K truck!

So project biebs got sold to afford to get this one repaired...

A little sad to see it go, but I will do whatever it takes to make my children happy and this truck has made her that way.

Nice little truck. Glad that some good came out of her loss. Looks like it could be an easy fix and a good shop should be able to blend the paint...

Have you had any luck finding parts? If you need a hand, I may be able to help.

when you wired brush the frame to bare metal, how long did it took you ? I'm about to do it myself and i was wondering roughly how much time it could take.
