Question 71 K10 Body Lift?

I've moved my fuel tank to the rear on my 71 and to get the fuel feed where I want it I may have to do a body lift. I don't expect to need more than an inch. What's the best way to do this and are there kits available?

Check with the vendors on this home page or pick up any Four Wheeling magazine and look there. Lots of ads in there. Or Summit and Jegs.
The problem may be with 1". Performance Acc. list 2" #572. 3" is #573. I am sure they could be cut down if you only wanted 1".
Just checked 4 mags and two catalogs and only find 2" or 3". Dick Cepek at $29.95 and up at Tyres International. www.tyres1.com or www.roughcountry.com
Hope this helps.
If you need 1" or are set on 1", let me know. I have a machine shop and may be able to help.

Pics, man, give us pics.
I didnt see a 1" kit when I was looking for mine. The blocks on my performance acc. kit could easily have been cut down.

NU2-72 or 6869704x4,

What size blocks are you using, and about how much space is there between the bed and frame rail now? I'm most interested in the area on the left rail between the rear bumper and hump in the frame rail.

I will be using a suspension lift. I have no lift now. Was just offering to help you get 1" blocks if that is what you wanted.

Think most blocks are made of a very hard carbon or plastic substance. you can cut them with a cut off saw real easy to any size.

Get alot of washers and stack them together for 1 inch height. Then run a weld up the side in a few places to lock them together. I did it for 1.5 inch lift on my jeep. You will need to buy new bolts though. Oh, and it helps if you use washers the same outside diameter as the bushings and same size hole as your bolts.

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone for the input. I've never done a body lift, and probably never would have, but the gas fill tube may require it if I don't want to cut a hole in the bed. I considered building blocks as was suggested, but wasn't sure how the bumpers would get raised to match. That's why I was wondering if they were available in kits. Do the kits have a means to raise the bumpers?

Larry, I did the in the cab tank removal on my ' 71 LWB 4x4 and perhaps can give a tip or two. I had considered a 2" lift but tryed a differant angle which worked real well. Also wondered about lifting the bumpers back to a stock posistion. Scrounged some parts from the local salvage yard, local plumbing shop, a beer or two to a friend with a torch and wound up with a fuel filler thru the driver's side wheel hump. Fills great with no back flow and is easily accesable. Wife did not really like the idea of needing a step stool for her to get in the truck so to keep piece in the family and be able to spend some more on the truck tried to keep her happy and me satisfied. The things we do huh? heh, heh. If this sounds what you are interested in send me a PM and I will give you a run-down on the full install and the parts I used.

Thanks Ironhorse, I'll PM for the details. I may have found a good alternative. No Limit Engineering builds an aluminum tank with a side fill, that is actually cut into the top of the tank. It looks like it will solve the entire fuel problem as it lowers the fill profile and is available with an internal pump for my EFI.
