72 C-10 Headers

Ok guys looking for everyones opinion on headers for our small block trucks.
I have only a few slight mods to the motor so I dont think I need to go overboard for performance. I am wanting to know which ones fit really well, finish holds up well and most important wont rust away in a year or so. Based on what you have used in the past would you buy them again or try something diffrent? I have seen about 50 diffrent kinds on Jegs, so just wanting to see what has worked for you guys.
Thanks

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

flowtech/summit. Summit are the same but cheaper. Fit great, don't leak, all plugs are highly accessable. 1.5" primaries might help torque. My summit ceramic coated ones were only about 200$

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

My '69 has Stan's Headers (P/N 172Y), out of Auburn, WA.

They are a bit pricey, but the PO did the installation, so it didn't affect me one way, or the other.
After several years of owning this truck, I have no complaints with the fit or finish of the headers.

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

220$ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G9006-9/ same as the flowtechs I got for my old truck. The finish is just as good so they're no rejects or anything like that either

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

I installed Hedman Headers on mine, I was looking for 14ga tubes and heavier flange, plus I luv the ball/socket collector. I got 120K on them w/ the last motor, so I refurbished them so I could use them on the more recent stroker.

And my wife bought them for me for a birthday some years back ... she was just happy I didn't want Hookers for my birthday.

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

Any idea if the Summits/Flotech will fit a 69 350/SM465 manual?

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

I have seen a few guys have used headers from a chevelle or camaro, any good reason for that? would it be to get the exhaust up closer to the floorpan? I guess that would be good if you were to lower the truck?

Re: 72 C-10 Headers

I use Hooker super comp in my stepside with a sbc with th-400. In my Blazer is Hooker comps with a sbc with sm465 trans. No relocation of clutch linkage, just had to remove the z-bar for install then put back. They clear all suspension parts and bolts and both sets were very easy to install with great fitment. Here are some pics that I posted back in 2004 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=107147
