Re: '49 chevy with s-10

I'm sorry but thats the way I roll. I see stuff I like and I copy it. I have a 4 link on my 66. It works much better than a 3 link. My 52 doesnt really move that much from side to side because I dont raise it very much. I dont think it moves 1/2" to 3/8 from full rise to full drop. I do like how a 4 link keeps the rear diff at the same angle all the time.

LOL... it be hard not to follow you, it seems you are doing a great job....
hey just to follow up on the rotors, I called Summit Racing and the guy said he can get me a set of rotors with the Chevy PU pattern for 62.00 each, I also called Helix and the guy sent me information and he can has the ones with both Chevy and Ford (yuk) bolt pattern for 400.00+ a pair....

OMG that is a awful lot of money for rotors. I bought my drilled and slotted rotors from Helix (the ones with the dual bolt patterns) and they were only 100 bucks for the pair but that is for a mustang 2 suspension.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Hey Rollinrooster, what rear end are you using? is it the stock S-10?
I am trying to decide what to do on mine, i have a 8.8 off a Mustang, I want to run
15 x 10s in the rear, but since I dont have the bed of the truck im afraid it will be to wide. So im thinking of using a S-10 rear end being that i want my truck to have a similar stance to yours.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Im running a 9" ford in mine that has been cut down. Do you already have the wheels, If so what is the backspacing on them? Also how wide is your 8.8 mustang rearend? Let me know these few things and i will try to help you out with the correct setup. One more thing....is your s-10 rearend the 2wd or 4wd unit? Ive got a bunch of chassis measurements for these things just need to dig it all up.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

No, i dont have the wheels yet, doing some homework. But i want to buy reproduction rally wheels from classic industries. I want to run 15x8 in the front and 15x10 in the rear. The 15x10 come with a 4 1/4 backspace. I just measured the rear end and from mounting point it is 60 3/4. How difficult is it to shorten it? Or what do you suggest? I dont have a S-10 rear end, but was looking to buy one, if i had to.

You should tell your kids to quit interrupting your progress. Don't they understand how important your build is?

BTW, it's Lookin' Real Good.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Hey man... good to hear from you. Ive got a ton of parts just need to find the time to get everything together. I boought the vintage air front runner and sum more stuff for the motor ( i believe i have almost everything as far as drivetrain except a drive shaft)need to get Ferguson to make me one. Currently im in the middle of getting my driveshaft tunnel made by Buddy Hopson also bought an aluminum radiator from him. Once i get the tunnel done im going to take it over to Chris's shop to get the bottom coated and the firewall / dash painted. You headed to street rod nats this weekend? Feel free to stop by any time.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Looks nice. Why dont you just build two tranny humps while you are at it....I could make sure of one. JK

It always feels good to get back at it after a layoff from working on your project.
