why wont my engine cradle? 67 mount towers?

In my 69 1/2 ton I'm trying to install the 327 from a 67 3/4 ton truck.

I am using the mount towers(original to the 67) in the 69.

They bolt right to the frame but the motor will abseloutly not cradle correctly on the mounts to bolt up.
I can get the passenger side bolt lines up but off a hair to where it won't thread, and the driver is against the tower in need of going down 1/2" or little more.I loosened the towers both to seen if it would flex a bit and set in but it won't.

Any idea what's going on? Are the 67 towers wrong for my 69 1/2 ton?

Unfortunately like an idiot I rolled the engine back and said screw it before taking pics. Everything lines up but the mounts are almost too narrow and inwards. As if they were spread 1/2 further from each other the engine would sit right on them flush.
I can get one on,and the other hits the tower up 1/2 too high and wedges, won't go down far enough and sit down

The mounts / clam shells may be on the wrong side (s), They are just enough different not to work.

If the mounts are in the rear mounting position then you have 6 cyl mounts and need V8 mounts, the V8 mounts are shorter and bolt to the front holes on the frame and cross member!!
