Re: Did the 1/2 ton short beds come with a two piece driveshaft?

I don't mean to brag but I just picked up my 5th wrong drive shaft today, lol

this one actually had a '69 tag on it, and my chassis is technically a '69 (the truck is registered as a '71 but let's not split hairs, ha ha) I realize this one comes from a 3/4 ton truck aka a C20 however that just means the shaft would be beefier if you will that should not constitute a different length per say, if you follow my logic two trucks parked side by side, for example a long bed C10 and a long bed C20 would be the same length, no? assuming both had GM 12 bolt butts

this is soooo Goldilocks: this one's too short, this one's too long...

Re: Did the 1/2 ton short beds come with a two piece driveshaft?

I used the Greg-O-matic drive shaft spreadarizer 3000 to divide it in two just for funnsies, mucking up the fine threads in the process

Yeah - I think that's stock (?).

I'll have to see if I can get a picture of it.

Gregski. I have a 1968 Longbed 307 4-Speed truck that came with that style bracket. I was going to post a picture of it in this thread earlier, but looked through my pictures and couldn't find a good one of it installed.

The problem with your logic is a C20 would not have come from the factory with a 12 bolt. It would have had an Eaton or a Dana

Here is a picture and length of the rear half of the 2 piece drive shaft off my short box. I cut down the front so I do not have the original length to share.

Re: Did the 1/2 ton short beds come with a two piece driveshaft?

so after all that 5th time was indeed the charm, with the help of a buddy we figured out how to mount this bracket, it actually mounts on the transmission side of the trailing arm cross member, I literally had to drill the two holes through the dirt and grime cause they were totally and completely clogged

thank you so much could you post a pic of your center support donut and bracket, a friend of mine and I have a theory of what the 1/2 tons should look like, compared to the 3/4 ton style
