Still working on the 69 GMC stepper! Just not satisfied with my tire size?????

Hey guys been a while since I have posted any pictures of the 69 GMC stepper just thought I would to see what you all thought of the progress so far? Have not had a lot of spare time to work on it. I am running a 215/70 R15 on the front with 7" rallies and a 235/75 R15 on the back with 8" rallies on back. And with 2 1/2 drop spindles and 3" drop springs up front 5" flip axle kit and 2" shackles in rear with a C notch kit and new drop shocks from CPP. Back some time ago I posted a question on tire size and now I am going to change the back to a 275/60 R15 as others have done I just don't like the "look" of the back tire hope it will "look" right with the change....yes my wife says it a lot "NEVER SATISFIED!!!" I don't have a glue what she is talking about!!!! What do you all think? To low? Just right? Well I will update with more pictures as I do more work to it. Thanks Robert

Changing to a 275 on the back won't change the look much. 275 is about 1/2 inch shorter and an inch wider. Your 215's on the front look to small. JMHO.

great looking truck! The stance is almost perfect. As far as the tire sizes go, I run a 245/60/15 on my 15x7s on the front, and a 255/60/15 on 15x8s on the back, and I like the look. Mine are also on a dropped GMC stepper. What color blue is your truck? I'm getting ready to paint mine and still trying to decide which shade of blue I want.

I think it looks great.
275/60's on the back will be fine.

I know alot of people think those front tires look too small,... but you have to be able to drive it.
With the inner fenders installed,... the tires are real close to hitting them.
(plus the a-arms are 2.5" off the ground)

Ask me how I know,...

Re: Still working on the 69 GMC stepper! Just not satisfied with my tire size?????

Thanks for the input guys! I know that if am not satisfied on the first look of something I might as well change it as it will drive me crazy until I do! Well I am going to change the back to the 275/60 R15 or some other size??? The back tires look like "balloon" tires to me against the front tire size so I will see how it looks with another tire size it is only money! I have spent to much to worry about it now! And Keith is right about the front tire size it is the biggest size I can get under the front and still drive it without scrubbing the front tires. Thanks for the input and as always I like to see more truck pictures with the same or similar setup. Thanks Robert

Your Stepper does not look bad with what you have on it, but tire / wheel combos are a matter of individual taste, so go with your gut, when it's right you will know it.

I find this a usefull tool in the tire / wheel selection process, check it out.

Here is what I ended up doing with mine.

Re: Still working on the 69 GMC stepper! Just not satisfied with my tire size?????

I'm going to be figuring this out....my 72 stepper is being set for laying frame. I wanted to run 8" rally's all the way around...

Those 7" could come in handy.

Re: Still working on the 69 GMC stepper! Just not satisfied with my tire size?????

I run a 255/70/15 rear, on a 8" wide ralley wheel(rear)....fronts are a 225/75/15, on a 6 1/2" van ralley. Its a nice combo, & the fronts clear easy. My old truck does not run inners(steel tilt clip). My thinkin says, you are about right on the height on the rears....but not wide enough(go 255/70). Up front, you need to step up on the tire(225/70 or 225/75 should work), but you may have to tuck em in a tad(6 1/2" rim). crazyL

Re: Still working on the 69 GMC stepper! Just not satisfied with my tire size?????

Here's one I built and sold. I adjusted until I got the tires the same level as the fender lips. Some said the tires were to big, but thats the look I was going for.
