What is the spline count for my 69?? and are all years the same or am I looking at a change of yokes also ???????? ( ?? MORE $$$$$??????) Thanks,

Well I don't know if this will help or not but my '71 has 30 splines and the '75 that I got as replacements has 30 also.

26 splines is correct for the pinion. I think '71k204x4454 is talking about axle shaft splines.

Talking

Right you are!!! I pulled off the yoke tonight and there they were ,, the 26 fine looking splines just like the new pinion that I picked up. I am more used to the older Jeep stuff that had the heavier ( not necessarily stronger) coarse splines ( 10 I believe ).. I am assuming that the involute splines are far stronger as they did it for a good reason.........I assume!

yes more splines = stronger

where the splines contact each other, there is more surface area on higher # splines

also, when more splines are used they are smaller, and the diameter of the shaft (if you took the splines off) is larger in diameter, which makes it stronger.

EDIT: sorry for all of my highly technical terminology :p
