Re: Fresh Paint and a New Bumper

Had to trim the top corners of the plastic step pad and fabricate a couple of bumper mounts for the frame and that was it. Fit better than I expected.

Re: Fresh Paint and a New Bumper

The trouble with all these "newer" (GMT400++) bumpers is that they don't let you angle the tailgate down with the straps unhooked. Makes it hell to load something like a lawnmower. With my old 76 I could let the tailgate down at about a 35* angle, and push down the mower handle enough to get the front wheels started up on the gate and then just push it on up into the bed. With my 1989 I have to lift the mower straight up (I can't without help) or back up against a bank or the rear wheels into a ditch.

The corner steps on my "new" 2016 are nice though Not going to be hauling mowers in that for a few decades

I was surprised to measure and find that my new 2016 is actually just about the same width as the 1976!

The newer pickup seems so much bigger.

Re: Fresh Paint and a New Bumper

That really looks terrific!! I was wondering if that would fit on a 73. My old truck has a rusty painted diamond plate bumper.
