Don't sweat it though, I think I am going to get one of those. Seems they can be had on eBay for 40-60 bucks all day long. I like the look a lot, modern, but not out of place. Price is definitely right too.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, but I took them tonight. I like the wheel because it actually centers up very well on the column. Also, with the two side spokes and the third pointing straight down, it doesn't disrupt the view of the gauges while driving. Plus the black center with the silver bowtie looks good in my truck.

I bought this Italian half-wrap (about 13.7" and less than an inch deep) on EBay for $50 + $9 shipping from a guy in Kansas. It's a marine wheel. I mfg'd a horn set up using the stock left-over stuff, and bought a Grant hub adapter. Then I drilled under the horn ring on the wheel to match the pattern on the hub. No big deal. If I didn't have to do the R and D, the whole thing wold have cost (less the wheel), about forty bucks.

I'll post pics on the tilt column as soon as it goes on for "the count". Right now, I have nothing on there so I can do my damage (work) on the interior. But I can tell you, for an upscale final look, you can't beat the price. Except that one that someone got for $15 at the wrecking yard.....Nice.

I got the modern wheel on my like Bigdogboxers posted in the pic. I'm toying with the idea of switching over to a wood wheel and I like the chevelle/etc wheel too ....blasted hard choice to decide......

Shoot the seller a note and let them know you want the stainless steel spokes. You also want the one that fits the 67-68 Camaro.

The horn button is the same as a factory button. I just added a GMC wheel center, which matches the finish on the horn button pretty well. Of course if your driving a Chevy, no need to do this.

this is a long running thread - hope it's ok to revist.
I'd like to ask a question regarding the size. What is a pretty common size on the swaps? I'm not a big guy - 5'7", but I have a bit of a gut. I was 330 lbs and lost 100 so the stock steering wheel hits me right where all my weight loss fat is
I had a 13.5" steering wheel on my s-10 mini truck and I liked it, but I think it is a little small for my 70. I'm thinking maybe a 14.5" or a 15".
I know no one can really give me a 100% correct answer since it is a prefernence issue, as well as my comfort, but I'm just kinda curious as to what sizes seem to be the most common because they offer comfort with good turning radius, etc.

Okay. You are correct. Also, factor in "tilt"? Or "power steering"? Seats? Where's your gas tank?

Here's my story: When I started this build three and a half years ago I was fatter. I'm 5'8" and still way too fat. But much smaller in the gut now than
before. But still.

When I started, I had a non-tilt column, bench seat, and power steering. Gas tank in the cab. So, I got this small wheel. It's 13.75", outside diameter.

During the build, I came up with buckets and the tilt column. I guess most folks don't like the design factor (non-stock) aspect of the smaller wheel.
But I've always liked the look and feel of them. And, with power steering, the leverage benefit of the larger wheel is moot.

So, I'm very happy with this steering wheel. Leather and wood. A good combo, I think.

Here are a couple of shots. Funny, when I backed in this morning I didn't turn the wheels straight.
But you get the point...it's about size, right?

That u for this...it's a great help. I do have power steering, but not tilt. Factory bench seat for now as well. I did read that I can remove some tabs to push the column in some, s I might look into that. I think the 13.5 or 14 will probably work just fine then

@SC C-10 Thanks for the pic! I was about to shell out big bucks for a Lacarra steering wheel and had never thought about 90's model cars. I just picked up a Cavalier steering wheel from a local salvage for $25 and it looks a lot better than most aftermarket wheel imo.

Same one for any Chevy wheel. They fit most GM wheels to the column.

I know really old thread but I had info that could help people out with a great factory steering wheel so I thought I would share.

This is the NK1 option code steering wheel that was standard on the 1969 through 1975 Corvette and optional on the 1969 Camaro, 1970 Chevelle, Monte Carlo & full-size passenger cars and optional on the 1971 through 1975 Buick GS. They are incorrectly referred to as the Comfort Grip steering wheel when Chevy actually called them the Cushioned Rim steering wheel. The nickname stuck and you will have a tough time finding them referred to as anything but Comfort Grip.

The Corvette wheel and some of the others were 15" outside diameter and are commonly referred to as the small Comfort Grip steering wheel but there is a 16" diameter version as well that is the large Comfort Grip wheel. Both sizes are commonly available as new reproductions for a pretty good price compared to many of the other options out there. I eventually put them on everything I build.

Years ago I tried a one of these Repop wheels on my 69 Camaro. It looked great...however two of the spokes broke off at the rim from poor welds. It now is a wall hanger in my garage. So, then I found an OEM Corvette wheel on eBay and have been using it ever since. Maybe the newer repops are better I don't know. Just my experience.

Just bought '72 GMC. Can u tell me what year of Corvette wheel you used and what adapter kit did u have to get ? Been looking at Grant but like the Corvette wheel you used.
