Takeoff Tailgate

SOLD

Medium Blue (edit: or more likely Light Blue, see post #3) takeoff tailgate. I can't find any dents or dings in the sheet metal...very nice sheet metal. There are some scratches in the paint and the paint is oxidized. The trim has a few small dings (mostly from the clips protruding) and some scrapes (rough edges). The sides are very nice, and it doesn't appear to have been stored on end in the dirt like some.

$1200 plus shipping.

I can also build a crate to ship it in if the buyer pays for the materials.

Lastly, I may be able to coordinate free delivery between Denver and any of the following locations: St. Louis, southern Wyoming, central Nebraska, and southeastern New Mexico.

Re: Takeoff Tailgate

It is possible this could be 507 light blue.

Re: Takeoff Tailgate

Pretty certain the color is 507 light blue. That is based on the tailgate stamping pointing to the fact it is a 1968 tailgate. Then the available colors in 1968 are shown below.

Re: Takeoff Tailgate

I’m guessing it’s a light blue 69 gate. 68 didn’t have the lower molding on them. That started in 69 I believe

That's a good point, especially coming from the takeoff tailgate expert! Not sure I knew that about the lower trim... Or maybe forgot about that fact.

I wonder how many other '69 tailgates have this stamping? Doesn't seem like many based on other threads.

Thanks for confirming that Joe. I did a little more research and added some detail to this thread. In summary, I think it is safe to say 68-69 trucks had the same stamping.

On a side note, here is some more info for anyone interested:

This tailgate would be 100% correct for a '69 Custom (ie. Custom-10, Custom-20, Custom-30) or a '69 base model (ie. C-10, C-20, C-30) with side moulding.

With some or all of the holes welded in, it could be made 100% correct for all 1968 trucks.

And then in reality, most people wouldn't notice or care that this has some slight stamping differences compared to the other model years.

71-72 custom deluxes (and base models with side moulding) would be able to use the existing trim holes too.
