Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build

My plan is flat black with red rims and baby moons with white walls, or red with black rims and white walls. 2'' drop on the front, 4'' drop in the back, nice rebuilt 350, hickory wood bed. I have built a few cars, but this is the first from ground up. Thanks to allot of you here, I am almost to just a frame. More pics to come

Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build

Great start to the project! I wasn't so lucky when I pulled the oil pan off. It was a fifty-fifty chance with the numbers I pulled from the block, but was certain it would be a 2-bolt seeing it was built for the LA area.

Love the 69.. wasnt this up for sale just today or yesterday on CL? I thought I saw a post on here about it. Anyways, great plans. Hoping to get mine in flat black paint over this primer I have now and pretty much same idea as you.

Thanks to you alI. I appreciate your time to comment.
Swamp Rat, good to know another Washington state person.
As for the truck, it was on craidslist n Yakima wash. For 1000. But I got it for 800.00 and drove it home where it is now in pieces.

Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build

Update : got allot of parts in, allot. Repair panels, fuel tank, radiator, and so on. One thing I ordered and now I'm concerned with is I bought an HEI distributor, mini starter and tilt steering column from KMJ. A few days ago I came upon an article here about the tilt and the poor construction, and now I'm concerned. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build

You going w/ 350 crank? or make it a 383???
Even though most here froth at the mouth for a factory roller cam block or LS, you've got a rock solid foundation block for an awesome build!!!
Awesome find! Another classic saved!!!

Ya, i would love to build a roller motor, but i have decided to go with just a good ole 40 over 350, 268h flat tappet cam, roller tip 1.6 rockers, hyper pistons and such, with Vortec heads i was given and high rise carbed intake with a good ole 625 carter carb.

Re: 1969 C-10 CST Build

So it has been some time since i have posted anything on here about the truck. So, here are some new pics along with an update where i am to date.
Cab is completely sand blasted by me, all the rust panels fixed on the cab, dash removed and repainted with Eastwoods Rat Rod Satin Black. Then I sprayed the underside of the cab with bed liner. Now I have cut the frame down from a long box to a short box.
Here is where i am and here is what i need your all help with. I am adding 2.5 drop spindles and 1" drop springs in the front with disc brake conversion, then in the rear i have 4" drop springs. but here is where the questions are. Do i need to install an adjustable arm and do i need to add shock mount relocates? any and all comments welcome.
