steering column differences

I picked up a parts truck today and it had a tilt column in it, although the shift indicator is different than my non tilt. The tilt column has an aluminum indicator cover and the non tilt is black plastic. Both are 72s. Am I missing something? Is it a different year or van tilt that has been converted? Thanks.

Re: steering column differences

Looks like the real deal tilt column. Just worn paint on it. The van tilts look basically the same from the top.

Tilt and non tilt columns, have different shift indicators.
