Wow !

It has been a while since I visited this build ... but it has come along very nicely !

I do have a question for you ...

What would you say the MINIMUM bed height would be over the arch ??

I mean, if you were to lay bed boards right on top of the frame ??

The reason for this is I picked up a 94 LT1 RoadDisaster to give up its drive train for my Burban project.

Just realized the wheelbase is the same, and a frame swap like THIS seems like a no brainer, and a whole lot more fun !!!

I am only concerned about the floor in the burban, and how much it would affect the height of my seats ...

Kids are small now .... but their heads will be close to the roof soon ...

Thanks !

Yes the caprice column.. There are some pics back on the earlier pages that show it. I used two burgeson joints without a carrier. I also used the caprice brake assembly and booster.

Yes ChiefRocka the cross members are in the factory location. I can measure it but I think it is about 6 inches..

Truck rides like a car and cruises at 75 with no problems at all. The only think you may consider is upgrading to a firmer spring. The road master and caprice had lighter springs then the police package. The police package and the impala ss has the same spring tension.

Ok, so technically raising the bed floor is not necessary ?

It was done for your storage ?

No, you will have to raise the floor about 6 inches. you can see the top of the tires is about 2 inches lower than the spring towers. I raised my floor higher because the bed had been cut up.

Hmmm,

Well this is what I needed to know.

The wheelbase from the RM and my Burb are spot on, but I don't think I can afford the 6" of needed floor raising over the rear seating area.

Regardless, the Burb will be powered by the LT1/4l60 combo.

More measuring will be done before making my decision.

Thanks for the info, and again ...

GREAT BUILD !

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

I got the Cowl painted and installed along with the AC vents and glove box door. I made some duct work for the factory vents out of Steel 3 inch home ac ducting. Repainted the door panels after a total disaster last weekend. Oh and cruised around 100 miles..

Well I finally put my hood on. After fighting more chemical issues and then fish eyes, it is finally on. I truly understand what "Flash time" means and why you better wait.. LOL.. Just a few more things and I will be done then can move onto the next project (1968 Dodge Coronet) then the next project (1946 Chevy COE)...

Oh and got the wheels balance along with the front end aligned. Cruising at 80 is easy. Just need to get the cruise working...

Wheels are all 20X10. Want to go to a 20X12 in the rear but will have to wait to upgrade them..

It's been a long road but it's coming together beautifully.

Congratulation,
