what is this?

little hex head bolt sunk into the block above the water pump... i think the new pump came with a new one (looks similar), but not sure...

what is it?

I think it is an oil pressure port. Not sure why they put one there though. Maybe to test run the engines at the factory. (did they even do that?)

Forward oil pressure port on 283s and some 327s.
