Re: LFD's XXL DropMember I6 Install

I had to run to the parts store to settle up my bill so I drove the scraper over the 3 blocks. For starters our driveway is wide and flat and the approach from the street I had re-done so my wifes old mini cooper S would drive in and not scrape. That Mini must have been a 4x4! I was high centered half way out Other than that it road smooth but I need to some more brake bleeding in the morning to try and get a better pedal. I also think it might benefit from a new set of front bags as the old Firestone's really bellow out and maybe a set of RE7's might be a good match for the DM and give a slightly firmer ride and that means a lower ride height because they will flex less so the ground will not jump up and slap the bottom of the truck as often. But the cool factor in only a 3 block drive was everyone was looking and you could tell from the look on their face it was a WTF kind of thing going through there mind.

Here is the ride height to and from the store.

Before the sprinkles hit I had just washed the out side and fire wall with "Quick Detailer" and Vacuumed out all the sand from the inside as well as used "All Wheel" cleaner on the wheels! So yeah full service and when you come to pick it up I will even do some banking for you

Trust me all it got off was the grime and dust I had in my shop! Every thing else is still backed into the finish including a few items of good eating that passed through the wheels at some point in the past

Re: LFD's XXL DropMember I6 Install

Well does it for another LFD install! I went for about a 30 mile test drive and all I can say is Hey Nate when is my DM showing up! This thing drove so nice and smooth I was really surprised. At the height you see below I did not scrape once and did not feel any bump steer or Drive shaft vibrations. It really is a great set up and with a set of RE7's I think you could drop another 1/2" to 1" and be ok

When I built LowBuck I replaced every suspension bushing and control surface to make sure it drove as best as it could and it does, only problem is XXL's drives better. But I still have more power and AC so I guess we are even

So now Nate has a set of mounts for a 6cly DM and if any of you guys are even thinking about doing this set up (6er or not) I say save your Penny's because it will be well worth it.

Yeah I know my truck needs a wash but I spent all time on XXL's wheels

I've got AC on both doors! And as for power, As soon as I get this big wheel GT30R on my dd, I'll show you what 500hp out of a 4-banger feels like

Thanks for the great profile shot of the mover's damage. Anyone have an attorney buddy who'd be willing to write a demand letter for me? PM me if so.

Re: LFD's XXL DropMember I6 Install

If you don't see any problems with a Texas lawyer, one man who did me and my family well when I was hit by a car as a kid while riding a bike, was Russ Briggs.

This may be a lot smaller, but he's a properly feared lawyer in TX.

BTW,

This makes me fall in love, one of the few step sides that I REALLY love.

Re: LFD's XXL DropMember I6 Install

I have to admit that it was XXL's truck that convinced me to get a 68 Chevy truck and a step side at that. I first saw his truck years ago when it was a fix of green and red parts. The stance was perfect and the step side bed just made everything flow together.

How ironic that the person who inspired me is now having his truck worked on by the same person that help the vision of my truck become reality.

It would be nice if we could get the two trucks together someday.

XXL do you still have a picture of your truck showing how it looked in 2000?

Kevin great work as usual.

We'll have to do that! Here's a pic of the truck around that timeframe, sporting the '68 nose in patchwork colors.
