I lowered my 2000 GMC

I installed a DJM 4x6 drop kit this past weekend (happy Father’s Day to me!). Kit consists of front lower control arms, rear flip kit/c-notch and new shocks all around. I’m very happy with how it looks and it rides decent despite not having it aligned yet. I need to raise the tailpipe up a few inches since it is currently below the top of the c-notch. I took it to a shop this morning to get it aligned and they said it was too low for their machine to read across wheel to wheel. I found another place in town that can do lowered vehicles so I’m going to take it there next week.

wow. looks geat,

they said it was to low? i dont know about that, the wheels are still in the same place, its the truck that came down and the alignment plated go on the wheels not the truck
i do alignments all day at work and we can do just about anything as long as it gets on the lift

Re: I lowered my 2000 GMC

He said that the alignment machine he uses sights from left to right wheel. He said that he couldn't get a clear shot across the front of the truck due to the front cross member and suspension components being in the way. That is the only shop I really trust in town so I believe what he told me. I called another shop and they said the same thing. I did find a place in town that can do it, but not until Tuesday. Apparently some alignment machines can do it and some can't.

Re: I lowered my 2000 GMC

The tires are 255/70-16 (stock size). The front tires rub when I go over a dip in the highway, but I think I have the 5" lower control arms instead of 4". I bought them used so I'm trying to figure out which ones I have (they were supposed to be 4"). They aren't stamped with a part number, so I need to contact DJM to find out.

Looks great Jason!

How's the other truck project going?

BTW, mark your calendar for the Midwest All Truck Nat's on September 11-13 in Riverside, MO. Bring either truck and hang out with several members. Check out the Missouri/Midwest sections for more info, or shoot me a pm.
