72 K10 LS Swap Transmission X-member

I’m completing an LS Swap in my 72 K10 and struggling with the transmission crossmember. The LQ4 sits on a Dirty Dingo 4X4 crossmember mount and is mated to a 4L60E with a NP 241C passenger drop transfer case. The transmission crossmember is out of a ‘90 Suburban (GM 15548905) and I can’t make it fit. I’m hesitant to hog out holes 2x the bolt size to make it ‘work’. This is supposed to be the bolt in solution. Does anyone have install pics or advise for making this work? I prefer a factory look, but I’m ready to grab the welder and make my own.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 72 K10 LS Swap Transmission X-member

Welcome to the site! We love pictures around here by the way! I don’t have a definite answer for you, but we have a section dedicated to ls swaps that I’m sure will get you some help. I’ll move this thread over there for you.

Re: 72 K10 LS Swap Transmission X-member

I'm in the process of finishing up my first 5.3L LM7 swap into a 70 K10. I bought the Tilden Motorsports/Pacific Fabrication front cross member. My swap is the 5.3L/4L60E combo with NP205. I did this combo so I could keep my NP205 and not have to change my transmission cross member or drive shafts. I have a link in my signature for a build thread to my K10 swap that you can check out if you want.

Re: 72 K10 LS Swap Transmission X-member

Thanks, Dan.

Great looking build. Unfortunately, I’m too far along to change paths now. Just about everything is in except for the X-member. We’re picking up the 3x1 tubing today and building our own x-member tomorrow. I’ll post pics once I figure out how to do it.

Good luck. I'll keep an eye out for updates.
