This is why clean original trucks are so special, you can learn how the factory did it!

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

Engine Casting Number, Casting Date and Assembly Date Question. Has anyone done research on known original trucks to figure out relationship of engine block casting date, engine assembly date, and vehicle final assembly? I have a 1966 Custom Camper built in Fremont, mid-June 1966. Am building a new engine. 327, with 3858174 block, the casting date is L-3-5 which equals December 3, 1965. The Flint assembly date = 1209 YH = December 9, 1965.
Is this block to early for my June built truck?

Thanks, Frank

1-2 months is more typical, but that's not too early.

Thanks for the replies. Yelmer, your sequence is very helpful. Consistent with other vehicles I have researched. Shows how tight all of the assembly dates are.

I was sandblasting 2 OEM hood hinge assemblies and noticed a factory name stamp. "Hancock" embossed over a large 'H'. Are these factory OEM? If so we found another piece of the puzzle......

Last week I replaced my original hood hinges with NOS hinges, both the originals and NOS had the Hancock emblem.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

Need help with parts numbers and ID. Attached are pictures of my 1966 C20 Bendix power booster and master cylinder. My understanding is these trucks could come with either Bendix or Delco Moraine boosters and M/C.
Questions:
1. The M/C has part number 618082 cast in the bottom and has a screw on cap. Is this potentially an original or replacement original?
2. What are the Bendix part numbers for the Master cylinder, and part number for the booster?
3. What are the Delco Moraine part numbers for the Master cylinder, and part number for the booster?

Thanks for the help, Frank
