Arrow Turn signals are acting weird

Tonight I noticed my rear turn signals acting up . If the running lights are OFF the rear blinkers work normal. If the running lights are ON and you use the passenger blinker for example, it works fine but the drivers side also "barely" blinks at the same time. It does the same on the other side with that blinker working correctly and the other one "barely" working as well. What would cause the opposite to blink only when the running lights are on?. I never noticed this since owning the truck. The turn signal switch is new from the Chevy dealer as well as all new bulbs. I'm stumped

Andy, they blink at the same time. The one I don't want to blink barely blinks but is noticeable. My backup lights have never been hooked up since I have owned the truck.

dude...that is a new one by me.
You'll be told to check your grounds...but this isn't a ground issue, they would be alternating if it was. Some how, you are getting power (albeit minimal power) to the other side.
This is just a guess, but I think it has to be in the column, so replacing the switch would be my first step.
If you do this, you can verify it before doing any work by just plugging the new switch under the dash and checking for what happens...don't forget the plug harness adapter you'll need too.

If the barely-blinking one is getting dimmer, then I would venture to say it is just a loss of voltage. Maybe battery is weak or alternator is weak. Similar to what happens to the headlights when you run larger stereo systems.
If the bulb blinks a little brighter....then I am stumped.

Try this....remove the red lens to the one that is NOT supposed to blink and then turn on the running lights and opposite blinker. Look closely at the bulb that is NOT supposed to be blinking. One element inside will be lit because of the running lights. See if the OTHER element is lighting at all. That will tell you if it is ACTUALLY blinking.

I'll try that Putter. The truck was not running when I was testing it. Anybody else have any input?
