Anyone running the Wilwood D154 rear disc with E brake?

Anyone running the Wilwood D154 rear disc kit. Its Wilwood #140-12569-DR rear disc kit with internal emergency brake. I have the Wolwood D52 calipers and rotors up front and Im considering this for the rear of Scarlett.

I'm curios how much better they perform than the stock 1.25" drums? Any input from someone with experience?

I'm also curious, as I'd like to get disc's in the rear of my squarebody too.

What spindles are you using up front and how's the D52 compare to stock brakes? Thanks!

Rob when I bought Scarlett she had vented rotors on front so I upgraded to Wilwood D52 dual piston calipers and braided stainless lines. At the same time I completely flushed the system and installed high temp fluid. The rear wheel cylinders were leaking so I rebuilt the rear brakes and installed new wheel cylinders.

I really haven't driven the truck enough to give an honest opinion on the improvement the calipers gave. I can say that they have performed well on previous trucks so I wasn't hesitant to upgrade again.

My 85 Sierra already has the 2.125" rear drums, which perform well. I know that the front brakes provide about 80% of stopping power. I can honestly say this is more about symmetry and aesthetics than performance gains. I just dont want to spend a grand and go backwards.

If your looking for real braking improvements, you need to step up to 13" or bigger rotors, and 4 piston calipers.

Thanks for the info! I've seen your posts of the Scarlett build, it's a great thread and I'm slowly going through that.

I'm considering the 12.19" rotor 4 piston set up that Wilwood has, it's a bit spendy but good brakes on an old truck is worth it. I might consider the D52 replacement too. Looks like you've got a very capable truck! Thanks for the reply, it's much appreciated!

I'm in contact with a Wilwood rep now. I will let you know what I come up with.

Re: Anyone running the Wilwood D154 rear disc with E brake?

I have the 4 piston/12.19 rotors on the back of the truck. Bought it from Matt at MCB.
Had a few issues with the install on the axle tubes with the caliper clearance and centering. Other than that was a seamless install. I also have the 4 piston/12.19 rotors up front on the truck with a 1 inch bore MC and prop valve. With the prop valve screwed all the way clockwise, the rears still lock up under a panic brake application. I called wilwood and spoke with the engineers and he recommended that I put some gauges on the truck. Haven't been able to do that cause the truck got wadded up on the track.

Thats my input.

Ken, any updates on this? I'd like to swap to rear discs, but as you know in TX we have to have an e-brake to pass inspection. I'd rather not have to register as a classic because I'd like to drive to work occasionally too.

I would like to see this paired with a E-Stopp brake system...

Re: Anyone running the Wilwood D154 rear disc with E brake?

Hmm. Cannot apply ebrake with ignition power on.
So I come to a corner, brake pedal goes to the floor, I have to turn the truck off before this will allow activation of the e-brake? So how does this qualify as an ebrake?

Great parking brake though. Very nice package.
