Nitrous fuel pressure

I would like to run a mechanical fuel pump (high gph one) , would that be a no-no with a 175 shot from a cheater plate system?

And what kind of pressures do you guys regulate it at with a milder system like that?

Engine is a stock 454

Re: Nitrous fuel pressure

Use of a good mechanical pump with 5-7psi should work fine on a stock 454 with that hp kit. This assumes fuel lines are proper size for the pump with a good pickup in the tank. I had a blown SBC that made 550 hp with a CV Products mech pump.

As for the Racepump. I ran one on my current twin turbo blow through 383 and it worked great, when it worked. At first it was the o-rings on the piston that would go bad. I had to change them on the side of the road 3 or 4 times. I had the pump updated with teflon rings and that fixed that problem but upon a hard launch at the track it wouldn't pull from a rear fuel cell even under 1.50 60ft launches. The pressure would drop right at the shift to second gear right to zero. I didn't want an electric pump but had to go to one as it was too much of a gamble. Let me tell you there's nothing worse than rebuilding a hot fuel pump on the side of the freeway under a street light.

Re: Nitrous fuel pressure

Thanks guys -- thats what i needed to know

I estimate my stock 454 at 275hp (except with tons of torque), so even the big shot jets will put me at a max of 425 - 450 ---
i can't wait to try it at the Friday TT night drags --- i am trying to be realistic so i am only hoping for low 15's in the 1/4.

If i have enough fun with the thing, i might try to wake it up a little more , but who knows
