Question Internally Regulated Alternator Upgrade

Someone Installed a newer alternator on my truck before I purchased it, a delco one with an internal voltage regulator-it has the threaded post and a two prong outlet on the top-this is a common alternator used on mid 70's-80's GM vehicles-pretty common. Whether or not the person that put it on the truck wired it properly or not is in question to me, it looks like a big mess-in addition-the voltmeter is not working-the black and the black/white wires that go to the gauge have been cut and are not hooked up to anything. Have any of you guys upgraded your alternators to this style? How did you go about it? where should the Red, White, Blue and brown wires to the old external voltage regulator go to?

Use the search function at the top of the page, this topic has been covered extensively. You will want to stay with that set-up, it's much better than the old voltage regulator system. Good luck!
