WIW 1971 402 Big Block LS-3

I have a 402 Big block that came with my 1972 Cheyenne super truck. I am going to do a number's matching restoration on the truck so I'm sourcing a truck block. This engine is from a Camaro from everything I can tell on the codes...
Complete from Intake to oil pan. Oval port heads. Has performance camshaft installed on a recent rebuild (I am going to verify that this week hopefully)

From the casting and stampings

3968854 (402 70-72 2 or 4 bolt)
E 4 71 (May 4,1971) block casting date

T0628CLB 11Y140355
T= Tonawanda Plant
06= June
28 = 28th
CLB = 396 (402) Auto tranny, high performance 300hp/ SS Super Sport

Heads are 3993820
1971 402 Oval port LS-3 heads

Intake looks to be 8268758 but I can't find that code. Also has B 2 72 on it and Conv 3 as well as GMTI stamped on it. It is loose (not bolted down yet)

What's a fair value on a complete rebuilt motor like this?

Thanks for any input!

Re: WIW 1971 402 Big Block LS-3

Got this info also.... any idea of a fair asking price?

Quote:
The 11Y140355 indicates (according to Alan Colvin):

1 - Division (Chevrolet)
1 - Year 1971
Y - Wilmington, DE plant
140355 - last 6 of VIN for which engine was assembled.

Passenger cars were produced at that plant in 1971. I take that to mean the Impala, Biscayne, Caprice, and Bel Air, and other large cars.

Camaro, Chevelle, and Corvette were not built in Wilmington.

Re: WIW 1971 402 Big Block LS-3

I paid $600 for a 71' 402 factory 330 hp out of a chevelle, not running about 4 yrs ago. I then spent a small fortune rebuilding it last year bc no one at the time anyway made pistons for the motor. I bored it 30 over and had to have a set of pistons custom made. So get ready to spend some money when you find what you are looking for, lol

Thanks...this one is rebuilt already with a new cam. That's why I'm wondering a fair value for it because I know it costs a bit to rebuild them...

Thanks for the info. I am going to break it down to verify the rebuild and get cam specs and then put new gaskets on and paint it up. I'm thinking 1500-2K would be a fair price once re-sealed and painted...
