finished the drivers side cowl patches. it was quite complicated and challenging, i think im getting better at this though!

i kept burning thrue. i think it was the undercoating that was making it burn thrue. thats why it looks like that

and the finished patch, not bad.

I understand Dean, it's amazing how much time can go in such a small piece. Usually that area is pretty rusty and you'll quit blowing thru till you hit some solid metal. I had the same issue when I patched mine up too.

So is that a little steel frame they put inside the cowl there for the two threaded holes? I figured they were just nuts (or equivalent) welded in there. Got a screw broke off in one of mine that I'll need to address at some point...

Patches look good, Dean. I suppose by the time we get proficient at this stuff, we'll be done with our trucks.

Those areas you fixed are one of the hardest to remove all the rust from in my opinion. I thought I got it all on my cab but I had some bubbles come back through the primer 2 years later. Really frustrating! I was almost ready for final sanding when I found it. I only hope I got it all the second time.

Not to discourage you at all just letting you know sometimes there's more rust behind the holes you can actually see.
I know how long it takes to fix these spots. All your hard work is rewarded when it's all done. Keep the pictures.

yeah, there is a frame. it is pretty thick steel with the holes threaded in. there are no nuts as far as i know. yeah, takes a while to master this stuff lol

thanks, yeah they are some diffucult spot. thanks for the heads up ill check it out. i appreciate the tips from you other guys that are further along in the restoration. thanks

alright, i finished up the last patch (that i know of) on the cab i thoroughly looked every where and couldent find anymore rust. . still need to order pass. cab corner and then im done with cab (not including doors) then it will be time to clean up underside and stuff. also still have to paint the engine.

a little progress today (yesterday now)
primed the floor and the repairs. the primer is from tractor supply. nothing fancy, sticks well. this is no big buck build.
i think it turned out good. and my spray gun works awesome

also took the passenger door back off to do some repairs. drilled a hole in each hinge to help line it up. hopefully in a good spot

Very nice progress Dean. I know how much time all those repairs take. I do the same trick with my hinges too. Get's you close.
