Tonights fun... I started drilling the spot welds on the window frame but I'm taking my time on those. Put the trim rings on my wheels, looks sweet! I got the top skin cut off the truck top. Took some pics so yall could see what one looks like inside, RUSTY!!!

Got the windshield frame piece cut out tonight. Used a new spot weld cutter instead of using a spotweld bit. Worked great. Still wasn't working fast enough for me so I busted out the grinder and ground out the rest of the spot welds. The new piece fits just like its supposed to. I'm going to fix a few places on the inside first and then por15 all the places I can reach. Here are some pics. You can see all the rusty goodness that fell out in the floor.

Good choice on the tires and rims Big J . you can't go wrong with rally's and bfg muds. They are Classic !

They rock don't they!!! How are your trim rings holding up. The way the rubber bead sticks out on these tires seams to be holding the ring out away from the wheel. Maybe I need to take a rubber mallet and beat them on there a little better.

Thanks J...do think they used enuff spot welds, I can see why my w/s rusted out. With that front pc. off, would I have access to the rear pc., sorta looks like it. Or is there another layer to get thru?

Nope, take the front pc off and thats it. Yes, definitely plenty of spot welds. I can see why though. The front piece is a much heavier guage steel than the rest. I guess its a big part of the support that ties it all in. Not sure about hugy. I'm sure he's hangin' some place.

I got it all POR15ed and some pin holes welded in. I'll get it mocked up and clean all the spot weld places, then weld it up. I picked up some new rolock discs, Blaze by Norton. I think they are going to last better than 3M, way better than the cheapies. These were only 21.00 for a box of 25.

No progress.... Moved a deck and a out building around at the house this past weekend and I'm still recooping after that, lol... I was flipping through some pics and came across this blazer. I really like the chrome wheel well trim. Mine may end up with some.... Ran across some other neat pics too...

Great progress---one thought though--make sure you are getting that upper piece aligned very nice to the frame. If it isn't, you will wind up with a broken windshield as the strain on it will come and go with the flexing of the body so you want no high points or low points in the frame for the rubber to sit in. You may have to hammer it a bit to get-er-done just right.

Heres the windshield frame all welded up. It lined up perfect and went in pretty easy. I think I had every small clamp and visegrip I owned on it, lol. Several that saw it laughed and made fun... All thats left to do to it is strip and epoxy prime it. Along with a healthy dose of seam sealer... I also modded a stock fuel fill cover to fit my needs. I Spread it out some, then cut and filled the bottom to cover the filler tube. The next thing I need to do is strip the bed sides and get some epoxy primer on it so I can get to finishing up on the body work. But what fun is that.... I think I'll fiddle with the truck top I cut off first. On to the pics....

Piddled with the truck roof tonight. I'm thinkin' I don't like it, at all..... It wouldn't be hard to brace it up, weld some tabs to bolt it to the windshield frame and to the rollbar light tabs. I can picture it complete with paint and the blazer lookin' all nice. But it still just doesn't look right to me. Any suggestions?

It's probably just because it's new and differant to you, you're used to seeing it one way, give it a chance to grow on ya. JMHO, but I think it looks good on there. If my hardtop mod. doesn't work out, I'll probably go your route, but I have to make it longer...Nice progress!

I think that you have the largest collection of clamps on the board, LOL

I knew they'd come in handy one day, lol.... I was at a local tool store that sells close outs and they had 80 gallon drums full of vise grips. 2 for 8 bucks.... I loaded up and bought some Christmas gifts.

I can't move the roll bar forward but I think I'll cut the back of the roof then bend it up to go over the roll bar. Then weld in pieces to fill the gaps. The roll bar behind it is mostly whats bugging me. Nothing wrong with perv'ed.... Perv'ed it funny
