Air cap for L31 - which type?

Putting a list together of parts I need on this new L31 and the breather cap came up. I was looking for a push in style cap that was black and Im seeing options that have open looking filters and some with just a cap and some with a PCV stem. Is there a best way to go or are they all the same more/less?

I also wondered about the open filter type and how they may get gummed up and whether or not its a a replacement of the whole thing or can you replace the paper filter?

Reason I asked was to see if your air cleaner has a barb on the bottom to hook a breather hose to.
If not just pic a normal breather that fits your grommet that matches the look of your air cleaner.
The open element style can look grungy after awhile.

Thanks Geezer, there are some parts that look like I could hook a hose up if I wanted. Does this help the engine run better?

Re: Air cap for L31 - which type?

That’s the hook up for a breather hose.
I’ve used them before with a couple of plastic 90 degree elbows and some 5/8 inch hose. Run to the grommet in the valve cover.
You can use just a breather if you want.
All you’re looking for is filtered air into your motor to combine with the fumes and out the other cover with the pcv valve.
