First truck

Back home again after a two week US trip.
Found a 71 Cheyenne Super with original big block.
It is now sitting at a shipping company in Los Angeles area waiting to be put in a container and shipped to Sweden, at the best it will arrive by the end of March.
The seller said it was a 72 but vin# says 71, it does have some 72 interior parts like doorpanels and windshield mounted mirror.
Does anyone knows if there was 72 style interior installed on late 71;s?
If the engine is the original one it should be a late 71, the stamped code is 0607 TKB, I haven´t found the other numbers yet.
It could of course been put together by some PO with parts from several trucks, unfortunately the glove box door sticker is gone.
Will try to find the built sheet when I have it home in my garage, does anyone knows where to look for that?
It is a Freemont built truck.

Here is some pic´s of it:

That truck looks pretty nice.
I have heard of the buildsheets being under the seat in the seat springs, behind the fuel tank, and under the carpet under the seat.

it has been pointed out to me that 71 rear views do mount to the cab, but also are the only year that that area is raised for the mirror. cant help about the late 71 thing, i am not sure 'bout that

Maybe it's a '72 model built in '71. The '72 model year started around Sep '71, so the first trucks sold would have been built before that.

I'm pretty sure my build sheet is stuck up underneath my seat in the springs. Unfortunately, it is torn into about 100 pieces...

Better luck to you!

Hey Mats,

Congratulations with the truck man!!
We hope to see the truck for real sometime soon.
Like 68w/sbc406 said, 71 was the only year with the raised area for the rear wiew mirror.
Happy cruizing mate!!

That is a sweet lookin truck, I like the copper and white. As long as the vin # on the truck matches the one on the title I wouldn't worry about it. What year is listed on the title, does it say 71 or 72??? Owners can be wrong. It's also been said that it could be a factory boo boo. It's a great lookin truck, enjoy it!

VIN#: CE241Z646752. It is the same on title as on the door post plate and title says Year Model 1971 but as far as I can remember there was no raised area for the rear weiw mirror.
I will find out more as soon as the trucks arrives.

646,752!! I don't have exact production numbers in front of me but that's about as late in the year as you can get. I don't doubt that they built this one as they were getting ready to switch over to the 72s and perhaps borrowed some of the 72 parts. Are the doors 72 (dimple for screw underneath the wing window)? I wouldn't worry too much about it. Check the frame number when you get it back though and make sure it matches the vin. If it does your good to go.

J.Lance, do you know where to find the production numbers?
The doors are 72 style with that screw under wing window.
I will check the frame number as soon as I can (I know where to look for it), I´m not really worried so much but it is always nice to know.

Based on your vin #, if I did it right, your truck is a C-20, 2wd, V-8, 3/4 ton, truck, that was a model year 1971 build in Freemont and its production number is 546781??? I think that's right....anyone know where freemont is??? California??

You can go here and see for yourself....

Here's the production #'s you asked for:

Prod. #

Looks like they made 62465 trucks like yours that year.

The link above looks about like the same info. I have in my book at home. I believe you'd have to look at total production for the year, not just lwb 3/4 2wd. I could be wrong however.

Glad to hear you found yourself a truck while you were over here.
I suppose you might want to e-mail Josh to change you boardname.
Hey I might even take it over : -)
Here is a pic of my 71 cab with the raised portion for the mirror.
Note the rear-view mirror is from an earlier model.

I have been thinking about a new boardname but haven´t had any idea how to do it.
I will send Josh a mail.
If I can change my boardname it is OK by me if you want to use it but I don´t what rules says about that.
Thanks for the pic, I would definately have seen that raised portion because I looked carefully in the area between the sun visors for any signs that a mirror should of been there but I didn´t find anything.
