Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed my new drive shaft which solved all of my problems of the truck violently shaking at high speeds. So now it rides like a dream and I sped down the highway for about an hour.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Thursday I put in new rear shocks, finished hooking up back-up lights, replaced and bled flex lines for brakes, painted doors to match the rest of my satin black truck, then Friday I took to our collector car appreciation day at my place of employment. The Filling Station.
I would post pics but it wont let me.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I struggled putting a new oil pan and gasket on my 69 C10 longbed and went through major trials getting the motor mount bolts back in. Got everything back in and torqued the bolts to spec, added oil and started it and.............. leak city from pan?!! I love working on my truck but ive got side work going on and dont have the time right now to pull pan off again. So my baby is in the shop today and hopefully shes ready to come back to my driveway after work tomorrow

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I got the metal work finished on the drivers side. New kick panel, floor patch panel, outer rocker, door pillar post patch panel, cab corner and new door. Then I patched a hole in the left front fender were the p/o drilled a hole to mount a antenna. Then I hung the front fender on to make sure it fits the new door. I thought it turned out ok for the first timer mechanic doing body work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Made a deal with the painter today. Since I'd just sprayed it with Tractor Supply Matte Black in the driveway,
I wasn't going to paint it. But we went to a show last weekend and I got dazzled by the "shiny stuff".

The guy right next to us is a very good Body and Fender Man (A local. And we've seen a bunch of his work).

He came over to the house yesterday. And he sent me the quote today.

So, off to the bank Monday to get 1/2 of the deal up front. Then, a definite (..."if I don't finish in 12 weeks,
I take $1,000 off) time frame.

We're going to check out Palladium Silver Metallic (792) on Monday after we go to the bank.

Anybody else like this color for our truck?

The flat/matte black is on everything, even from the factory. I think it's starting to wane. My choice, Cadillac Black Diamond.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I rolled on some of that rustoleum bed liner/Herculiner stuff. What a mess, they should print on the can that you should expect to throw away what ever you are wearing. If I ever need to line it again I will happily pay to have it done. Yesterday I finished up the new drop 3" front, 3.5" back. Tomorrow hopefully I will wash and wax my 68 GMC and the wife's 41 GMC.

Congrats.Welcome to the board.

How wide are the rims. I'm taking my son's rims off his truck that are the same one's and putting them on mine. He's tired of the wide wheels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took the truck to a cruise in, it's first public appearance.

On my way home, I let my wife drive so I could find where the helacious wind noise was coming from. Turns out the one piece window little triangles were leaking air badly. So on our way home we stopped by wally world and I got a small tube of clear silicone caulking.

Got home and applied the caulking around the triangles. I poked a real small hole in the caulking tube and laid down a thin bead. You will never be able to see it! And hopefully it will cut down on the wind noise a lot.

I also tracked down a new rattle. Turns out the wire for the lighter that I just installed is tapping on the top of the gauges, so I'll have do something about that.

Looked at my speaker kick panels with hopes of working on them tomorrow.

Unhappy Re: What did you do to your truck today!

R&R upper and lower ball joints. Still trying to install the lower A-arm caps so arm pivots without locking up.

Wash, wax and vacumnd it. It was badly needed. I also changed the plugs and installed new head to header gaskets.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

It's a today/yesterday combo......

Put gas in it, drove it to work, cleaned out the bed, took it on some sales calls, pondered new parts while driving it. Will probably do the same today.
