K5 blazer emblems

Are these "K5 Blazer" emblems correct for all '72 2wd blazers? Does anyone have a diagram that shows the correct location of these? And, can these emblems be orders new?

Re: K5 blazer emblems

They appear to be the correct badges...

Placement on the fenders - mine had holes already there - so I can't help you with that one...

Available to buy - sure (aftermarket)! NOS ones pop up every now and again but they are pricy...

Most vendors have them...they run about $30 each before shipping (some more - some less)

Re: K5 blazer emblems

I've seen the aftermarket and they seemed fine. (lks dcvn - the hood badge is aftermarket on your truck - the k5 emblems are OEMs I got from a board member.)

I did find that there were some emblems with 2 posts and some with 3 posts. I believe all the aftermarkets have 2 posts.

For location, get a factory assembly manual. I believe it give the dimensions to locate them. Check to see if your fenders have spots where the holes were filled as you're probably going to need to take them off to put on the emblems anyway.

I always thought it would be cool to put one of the new 572 motors in a 72 K5 2wd blazer and get custom emblems that say "K/572", but I'm kind of a dork.

Re: K5 blazer emblems

Not sure - I have a set at home with my Blazer - but I don't know if they are stock or aftermarket - I haven't seen them side by side to compare either...

Maybe Bouncytruck can tell me if mine are stock or after market...I think he bought new emblems for it while he owned it. EDIT - looks like mine are OEM - unless Obsessive23 (who owned it after Bouncy) exchanged them...

I can take pix if that will help you out.

Mine have pegs (or feet) on the back of the emblems that attach with 'metal nuts' through the fender...if you wanted a cleaner install - you could shave the emblem holes from the fender, grind the pegs off the emblems and then attach them with 3M double-sided tape...

I forgot to add - Nice Blazer!

Re: K5 blazer emblems

Where do I get a factory assembly manual, I've been unable to locate one specific to the blazers.

Re: K5 blazer emblems

I don't think that they made one for the Blazer exclusively...

From what I know - the 67-72 Factory Assembly Manual also covers the Blazer...

http://www.brotherstrucks.com/prodin...number=LFA6772
http://www.classicparts.com/prodinfo.asp?number=04-631
http://www.gmcpauls.com/manuals1.htm

They also pop up on ebay - but the usually sell for the same price as buying one new...

Re: K5 blazer emblems

The factory assembly manuals have some blazer exclusive sections, but since so much is common to the trucks & burbs, they are all integrated. It is a nice reference point and interesting to look at. You'll see some of the things that never made it to production or are extremely rare (like blazer door caps to cover over the window channels.)

Re: K5 blazer emblems

Since the K in K5 Blazer sdands for 4 wheel drive, it seems odd to have K5 Blazer emblems on two wheel drive

According to John Gunnell's Chevrolet Pickups, 1946-1972:

Blazers were merchandised in two series, KS and KE, with the "S" indicating six and "E" indicating eight [cylinder engine]. The K, of course, meant four-wheel drive in Chevrolet lingo. Factory-issued production records also show a CS and CE Blazer, but production was not indicated, since no conventional two-wheel-drive versions were made in 1969.

Evidently, when Chevy introduced the 2WD version in 1970 they kept the same "K" emblem, probably to avoid the additional tooling cost of producing a "C/5 Blazer" emblem. Come to think of it, now THAT would be a cool item for somebody to create for the 2WD brigade. Anybody got an idea what it would cost?

When I get the funds (someday) I'm going to have "C/5 Blazer" pinstriped in the stock location.

Re: K5 blazer emblems

I'd like to know who has them for $30. The cheapest I've found are $44 each...

Re: K5 blazer emblems

I looked in my 'Classic Parts of America' (used to be Chevy Duty) catalog I have at work and they were $29.95...

AND I did just look online at their site and they are $59 -

so looks like a price hike has hit.

That's a great deal. I found a set and I bought an assembly guide, but the drawings do not have any good reference points. You might need to eyeball it and just make sure the other side matches. I haven't done it yet because it looked like I would need to remove the fender. Let me know if you are able to do it without removal.

Man I just thought about that. To get to the other side with the nut you might have to take it off ..shoot. got any 2 sided tape that you trust for 60 bucks worth?
