Need more gas??
I installed my refurb stock tank back in the truck. After instaling the tank I added about 1/2 gallon of gas and drove around the block. Coming back up the hill it died. I figured there was not enough gas in the tank for it to pick up. Got 2 more gallons added to the tank and took off for another spin. When I went down a hill the coming up the other side it died again. I got it back to the house and since the battery was dead I left it alone for the night. Do you think there is still not sufficent gas in the tank for it to go down and back up a fairly steep hill? Please also take note that this truck had been sitting for 15 years. I did change the fuel filter and all rubber fuel lines as well.

Almost sounds like somethings wrong with the float level in your carb....
Did you put a new carb on or reusing the carb that has been on there? If it is new, reset the float, if it is old, you may need to clean it or rebuild it... |

I agree with John Fabris, sounds like a float problem. Even a rebuilt carb can have a float hang up.

Was the fuel filter really dirty? The carb's filter could be plugged some too.
Try more gas first and see what that does, these tanks have a fairly large bottom and the siphon doesn't really sit right on the bottom. If that doesn't work, you may need to buy a vented gas cap.

The tank on our 1970 has 4 gallons left after the gauge hits empty, get the loan and try more gas first, thats the easiest.

check that little filter on the float. mine got sucked up into the fuel sender and did the exact same thing.

my truck will suck the tank dry. fill it up and limp it over to your nearest parts store so you can bolt on a new edelbrock.
