Probably my favorite Highlander color combo, 519 Solid Dark Yellow & 618 Orange Plaid ! Thanks for posting it!

Is your "new friend" becoming a forum member? :-)

I told him about the site. It's up to him now. I really like dark yellow too, he didn't know about the highlander so I splained it to him. The plaid was long gone.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is one on Craigslist now. It's had a complete makeover including, I think the engine and as I like to say "some of the newness has left it ". No spid posted but the grey plaid works with the original red or orange paint.

I wonder if that is a Three on the tree. The position of the shifter makes me wonder.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is one on Ebay now. This would have been sweetie when new. Orange and white with the 618 Orange Plaid seat and the YG8 Package. Serious resto involved here if someone wanted to redo the truck.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Total 70's colors!!
They just don't make them like this anymore
Yellow one is mine, orange one has been in Our same town for years.
And has been for sale recently
I stoped by to check it out the yesterday , thinking it too, was a highlander
Yep, it was. Bs'd with owner, explaining about this option.
Pulled mine out of the garage today, and went back to show him.
Hence the picture.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Both spids

One thing that came out of our conversation
? A package truck vs an ordered truck?
You can see his is a package and mine is not.
At the bottom of my spid it shows order #
And there is no mention of special promotion on spid
I'm guessing that means someone special ordered the truck, the way they wanted it
And package trucks might have been ordered by dealers to sell on there lot.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Yes, one could indeed order a plaid seat cover in 72 without the special promo pkg. Was wondering there for a second if all non-package trucks had to be special ordered and then I dug up this old SPID that proves otherwise I think - so, plaid could be had (that rhymes) without the special order I believe.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I never know if I should post a CL find of a possible highlander in the CL thread or this one... Anyway, here ya go - my spidey sense says Highlander. A bit pricey for condition I THINK, but not too high if the body is real solid - and it looks pretty solid in the pics - and solid blue is a nice lookin truck, would look sweet with a new blue plaid seat too. Anyway, blue C20 Custom Camper for ya -time, only will tell if it's a Highlander:

Mine is on eBay right now, it's getting plenty of view and watchers but no bids yet. No idea what it's worth, I'm just trying to finance my 68 SWB by thinning out the herd.

Welcome. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the SPID pictured is not from the glovebox pictured (nor is it from the truck pictured). Truck and "outside" shot of the glovebox door are Cheyenne Super, SPID shown is Custom Deluxe Highlander, a different animal, and which the truck clearly is not (the headliner kinda eliminates the possibility of a po personal upgrade to Cheyenne Super status somewhere in its life - the Custom Deluxe would not have had that). So, what's the real story on the truck? Kinda interesting - the paint code matches what appears to be original paint, so hmmm. Do tell!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Just sent you a message, I thought I had this truck figured out but now I'm not so sure. The SPID matches the title, I guess my next step will be seeing if the VIN on the truck matches the VIN on the title. Anyone else have thoughts on this? I assumed it was a Cheyenne Super clone.

check the vin stamp on the frame by the power steering gear box, and the vin on the door jamb. maybe it's a super but not a highlander?
