1972 C10 Ground up Rebuild

At this point in time i have totally disassembled my 1972 C10 ( Frame Rails No Suspension and crossmembers) this had rear leaf springs so i found a 70 C10 Long bed and cut the frame do to be a short bed. (to all those long bed guys this frame had NO BODY, just rear axel and a front suspension so i Shortened it)
At this point im using TCI Total Cost Involved Rear Suspension, which im slowly installing. (The Frame has real steel which is tough to drill through) once the rebuilt 12 bolt axel is installed i will be working on the Front Suspension.
My dilemma is this, i cant decide between a bolt on front axel or just do the QA1 Control Arms then do a rack and pinon possibly.
I have on hand is a set of 72 2" Drop Spindles to use.

I have a rebuilt 400 SB (450 hp), Tranny is a 700R, 12 bolt 370 posi track
I would like to be able to have power steering or a rack N pinon
what would be some options that im not aware of.

If you have a suggestion on retail distributors pass on the info.

Thanks

Re: 1972 C10 Ground up Rebuild

I'm not sure it is the same feeling, but when I first got my 70 corvette it was manual steering. I installed a stock power steering type set up in it. I drove it like that for a few years until I put an LS in it. At that point I installed a rack and pinion. It totally changed the way the car steered. It now has quick, positive steering. I would hate to go back to the stock style in that car. I am not sure it would equate to the same thing in a C10 but I bet rack and pinion would be better than the stock style power steering.

What ever you decide or like to do - Do it now before you go any further it is harder down the road. Good luck and don't forget to post some pics.
