Re: Every Time I Get Fuel!!!
It is definitely flooding. Check to make sure you have no crud keeping the needle from closing all the way. I had a piece of rubber from the fuel line make it under the neddle once. It would pour gas all over the place when you stopped, but would run fine just rich. Probably worse flooding than you are having.
Try running it until it is warmed up then shut it off and look down the front two barrels. If you see fuel dripping you are having some pressure problem. A warn carb will do this. Give it a couple min. sometimes it won't start dripping immediately. Also q-jets are bad about leaking through the plugs below the bowl. A little jb weld will fix this. If you end up taking it apart check for play in the butterfly shafts. If it get too bad it will never run right.

Re: Every Time I Get Fuel!!!
i am planning a winter refurbish of the motor, where it will get a slightly better intake, new or newer used holley/demon carb, and a lumpier camshaft. So I just need to make the old Edelbrock work for a little bit more

Re: Every Time I Get Fuel!!!
I browsed quickly through your posts. Do you have a spacer between your carb and intake? Edelbrocks are notorious for boiling the gas out of the bowls with the heat from the intake, which a 1 or 2 inch phenolic spacer will fix.
these edelbrock FAQ's may help ya. http://edelbrock.com/automotive_new/...carb_faq.shtml

Re: Every Time I Get Fuel!!!
If the vehicle was having fuel boiling issues and evaporating the fuel from the bowl, it would require pumping the throttle to get er going, but holding the throttle open to get her to start is flooding upon shutdown.
Check your oil immediately!!!!! that much flooding going on can wash the bearings right out of the motor. if your oil is overfilled or smells like gas you are getting fuel past the rings as it floods after you shut it off. change the oil and fix the flooding issue. Either the float level is to high, excessive fuel pressure, or there is actually a leak in the carburator base or bowl(cracked?) it has been a while since i have been into an eldebrock carb. Quadra-jets had issues with the main metering jet wells would leak from the machining plugs on the bottom of the carb bowl housing causing flooding and extended cranking after sitting. could also as stated earlier be as simple as a sticking needle and seat. a float that is fuel saturated would also affect fuel level in the bowl. If you got any questions give me a hollar at (two one four) 641-6155. I am a master certified tech for the last 20 years and can probably give some good info to ya. Phone is easier and quicker than posting or e-mail/pm Spencer
