Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Good Morining Everyone.

Advance D;
That is just the trans cover in the cab area.
I lowered the cab down from 5" to just 2." to 2.5" off the frame.

Update.

I got the rear fender removed n added some much needed surport to the outer enge both front n rear,plus added n extra bar to the rear of the fender.
Used 5/16 cold roll ,tacked in to fender then rolled the fender over the cold roll to make a smooth edge.(several pics)

Then sanded down the bed with the fender off n sanded down the old green fender both inside n outside.
Repainted these area the same color as the cab (Sand- pic)

Outlined the script on the rear of the tail gate n painted it the same color as the inside of the cab will be (brown pic)

Trying to work on the gauges in the dash. Got the speedo n fuel gauge worked out,now trying to work the oil,temp n tack into a set of round pods over the radio hole.

Going to try n get the shop cleaned back up today.

Got the title to the frame this week, will take it down on the 1st n get tags for the project.
It will be reg as a 1988 S-10 pick up. (funny looking S-10)

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello again:

Well got me a front clip for the project; (200.00) (pics)

I know that I have a lot of work to do on the fenders n hood.
This will let me know just how good of a wire feed welder I am(wish me luck guys)
Got work on both fenders; (welding)
Got a lot of work on the hood; (dents)
Will have to redo the front cooling system. (planning)
Will try to take pic as I go about doing the repairs.
The hood will need some TLC on the BIG dents to the front n then the very lower front of hood; (lots of slow work)
Both fenders need some TLC (welding) time to take it slow;
Still working on the title problem for the frame.
With the body just 2" off the frame the fenders n radiator brackets have to be fab; (time)

Well wish me some luck:

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Good score on the front end Tim. The paint color is almost matching your truck isn't it?

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello; Advanced

Yes !! the color is close cause this front end clip was off the cab that I got to start with.
I just did not know at the time if I was going to use a front clip or not.
How I have to do alot of body work to this clip, plus I just may have to remove the body panels I put on the front end,
Will just have to wait n see where the fenders set once centered over the front wheels.
This gives me something to do for a few weeks.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello again;

Well to day I got the front clip broken down. (pic0
Now able to start to fix the front fenders. (pic)
Just don't know how to fix the big dents in the hood.
Thinking about splitting the hood in half(pic) to be able to handle the two dents.
Once i get the dents n the fenders welded up.
I want to set the fenders center over the tires to see where to set the fenders on the body.
I have a lot of slow working time to do on repairs.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello;

For Mr48chevy;

I'm down loading some pic of the dash gauge bucket that I used in the speedo install.
Tryed to show you in a message earlier.
I think I'll try to order the chrome rings from LMC for the gauges.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Good Afternoon Everyone;

Well have been busy on the project.
Got the front clip broken down.
Been working on repairing (welding) the fenders.
Worked out some of the dents in the fenders.
The hard part has been trying to repair the hood.
Had to redo the hood rails with reinforcements to hold the hood line.
Made a strap to go along the hood then weld the hood together where the bent broke thur.
Still working on the (BIG) dents in the hood;
The dents are a lot of work.
Once I get the hood bents taken care of I will reinstall the hood back on the cab for alignment of the fenders.
I (really) think that I will have to extend the fenders n hood about 3" due to where I set the cab on the frame n the amount of drop that I done to the cab on frame.
As most of you know the cab is usually about 5" above the frame.
My cab is about 2" of the frame.
So when I do the front fender I will have a lot of work to do.
My cab set back about 4" from the Dist. so that will make the placement of the hood latch n fender mounts more work for clearence.
I will enclose some pic of what I'm doing.

Thanks;

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

I have a Question?

Does anyone remember which way the hood springs go.
#1 Spring to the inside?
#2 Spring to the outside ?

Can't remember ! ! !

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Still need to do a lot of body to the hood dent n the front of the hood.

Have spent the last two days working on the hood dents n welding up the fenders n hood.

Still have to grind down the welds on both hood n fenders.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;

Well spent all day getting the BIG dent out of the hood.
Got the hood set on the cab for fender mock up.
Looks like I will have to add 4" to the hood to make it longer.
I have the room to move the fenders forward to center over the wheels.
Got to looking at the stance of the truck,the rear 15" wheels just give it to much stance.
I have a set of 10" x 14" wheels(really want 14" all round)But to use these I will also have to add 2.5" to both rear fenders for the tires to clear.

So now I have to make some different plans to finish the body work.
One step forward 2 steps back.
