Re: 1986 swb bagged and bodied build thread

Also testing pinion angle change, and lift. Truck has 31" of lift with very little pinion angle change. Obviously won't have that much lift with the bags installed but very happy with how well we got the pinion angle dialed in.

Wouldn't you want the front upper mount on the passenger side?

Why would you want it that way?

Re: 1986 swb bagged and bodied build thread

I thought it had to do with the torque running through the upper bars and wanting the torque to push the chassis through the passenger side. I could be wrong though.

Oh yeah that makes sense, I don't think it makes a lot of difference the way I have it all set up. But it could if the truck was gonna make a lot of power. Gonna be a mildish 350 build make maybe 400 hp. But I am glade you brought it up cuz I may look into it a little more

Let me try to upload some pics, I haven't been on in a while. Kinda had two projects going and finished up my shop and got a lift so lift has been crazy. But the truck is real close to being done. Bought everything to do a 5.3L and 4L80e swap but motor needs rebuilt and trying to buy a house now so gong back with the built SBC I have and built trans and should be setting that in this weekend.

Can follow my build on Instagram @c10aronius as well

Here is a few pics of the build I got some more downloading. Couple of shots of it laid out, and a few shots showing the tilt bed frame on and functioning

Re: 1986 swb bagged and bodied build thread

Bed work! Moved the wheel tubs in 3" by building flat sheet metal walls. Also made the tubs fit like factory by cutting the bed floor and moving it all. Flat wall in back for when the tailgate is down from raising bed floor. Cut and welded front wall to appear factory

Re: 1986 swb bagged and bodied build thread

The motor I am gonna put in it now, it is the original motor out of the truck. All rebuilt and a cam and new springs. Also going back with a Fitech FI setup I came up with. And a pic of my girls with the truck at a local show we took the truck out to show the progress so far.

That's how you update a build, just plan sick.
I like that tilt bed also.
Nice work.

Looks sweet. Have you decided on painting it or leaving it patina? And did you paint the bed or use a bedliner?

I appreciate it man. The tilt bed has turned out really well. I figured i'd get mixed emotions on it.

I am leaving it patina for a while, just wanna enjoy the truck and not have to worry about it getting scratched or something. I have all the original trim going back on, drip rails, fender trim, cab and tail gate trim, and then new molding. gonna finish buffing truck before I install it all.
