Brothers 4/6 Drop and Disc Brake Conversion Quality

Brothers had a sale on this month and their deluxe disc conversion was almost $250 dollars off.. Planned on going with CPP but this was a pretty good deal.

So then decided while I was placing a big order and the shipping was expensive, thought Id order the remainder of the 4/6 drop (since I got the drop spindles with the kit). So ordered springs, blocks, notch and shocks for now.

I wish ECE was still open as I would have went there... but they aren't.

Does anyone have experience with the Brothers brake kit or drop kits? It's not too late to cancel!

Thanks

Re: Brothers 4/6 Drop and Disc Brake Conversion Quality

Ive been hearing that brothers is taking for-ev-er to ship stuff out. Maybe that why prices are low right now.

Ive done CPP kits and besides the issue of the instructions not making sense at times, they are not bad.

People say that summit has CPP with free shipping (US only maybe?).

Brothers IS taking forever to ship. I am cancelling my order tomorrow.

By the way, CPP is bottom of the barrel crap. Won't buy anymore from that outfit.

I’ve heard that from some people before. That’s why I was asking how the brothers kit was for quality. I haven’t read much about it on here, other than their shipping delays lately.

If CPP is crap, what would you recommend?

Re: Brothers 4/6 Drop and Disc Brake Conversion Quality

I just did the POL kit, front and rear disk with master and booster, inner/outer tie rods adjusting sleeves , all front brake lines and western chassis 2.5 drop spindles. i am really happy so far. got it off ebay. my only complaint is the front brake lines were kinda hard to figure out with no diagram.
it was way cheaper then off there site. i did get the cpp drop kit and im bummed. the rear is actually an inch lower then the front. but summit has the cpp stuff on the shelf and can buy the springs and shock relocation brackets and panhard bar as a kit plus free shipping.
just wanted t throw my .02 in. good luck

Contact Bill's Truck Shop in Courtice Ontario. I just did a 2.5" drop spindle disc brake conversion on my '69 and got all the parts from him. Not sure how cheap a full 4-6" drop would be, but its at least a small local business getting your money than the big stores.

I just got a notification from Summit that orders over $299 have free shipping to Canada right now. Might have restrictions on it though, I never checked.

I've been placing larger orders with Summit (all over 299USD) and they've all shipped for free. Placed maybe 7-8 orders in the last 6 months with free shipping including brakes, suspension, crossmembers.

I just checked and it was saying nearly the same for shipping as well. Looks like it can only be shipped by DHL, which may be why. All of the free shipping orders I had, the only free shipping method was FedEx ground. You could call customer service and ask them.
