Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

Got mine a couple of weeks ago. Great fast shipping. Just got them painted yesterday, letting them cure for a couple of days. Painted blue, Dupli color Dark Blue Met (28 WA8264)

I offer them with two different opening sizes, 6" and 6.5", as the "6.5" speakers on the market have a wide range of opening sizes.

I will be using the focal 165AS in the rear.Their spec sheet says 140mm which roughly translates to 5.6". Which, if either would work for me?

The two sizes I have are 5-7/8” and 6.5”. I’d buy the smaller ones, you should be fine. If that works, just send the funds to www.73-87.com

Your inbox I sent full, please clear it out and either send me a message, or text me at 612-558-1666

I was wrong on my opening sizes, I have 5-1/4" and 6" ( I was in DC for work and was going off memory)

I researched your speakers, the mounting diameter is right at 6", so you would need to buy the smaller 5.25" and enlarge to 5-9/16"

Again, PM or text so we can coordinate this.

Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

Hi Jeff
Just wondering how much room there is between the shelf below the bracket, and the base of the bracket?
My dilemma is, I have the original cardboard tray and I'm trying to see from the pics if there's enough room for both.
The tray side is about 3" tall.
I may need to do some trimming?!
Thanks in advance
Conrad

Hi Conrad, I’ll get you a measurement tonight. I do believe you will need to do some minor trimming to make the tray fit.

I'm going to give a shout out every chance I get for these brackets! I no longer own my Square, but these brackets are first class and fit perfectly. Plus, you're supporting a board member/vendor!

Re: 73-87 cab corner 6X9 speaker brackets - 2nd series

Jeff, my 1977 C10 does have one of the seat belt retractors mounted to the pillar. The main retractor is mounted to the floor. You have said the early 3-point type seatbelts won't work with your brackets. Have you heard of a work-around for these speaker brackets to work with this seat belt set-up?

That mid mount retractor screws everything up. It’s actually a terrible design, and why GM ran them less than a full year. Ditch them for the 77/78 and up floor mount belts. They work much better, and will work with the brackets.

Received the brackets on Thursday. They look great and well made. I used to work in the sheet metal fabrication industry, so I know good work when I see it!
