Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

Getting close. Got everything to finish the rear. Then remake some brake lines for the new brake system. Would have liked to have made it to the test and tune but probably won't unless I find a way to add some extra hours to the day. I might come watch if I can get away

Well it was a long weekend in the garage, no pun intended, getting closer to having it ready, bunch of small stuff yet, then need to get my trailer race ready.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

Thanks, it's pretty much ready to roll, chute and bars are back on, put the chrome bumpers back on as the glass ones aren't painted yet, and hood is not here yet, going to scale it tonight and see where she's at like this.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

Well after rain on Saturday spoiled my plans, I was still able to get my 5 runs in on Sun for my IHRA license, second wide open pass was a 8.95@148.97mph on motor spinning off the line, so let the tuning commence!

That is hauling! You might be pushing the limits of your 8.50 cert!

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

Thanks, on bottle for sure, see what it does as I tune it, I imagine will lose some too as the temps increase this summer and DA goes up, was thinking in that 8.7xx to 8.8xx range is where it might end up but we will see I guess, 8.6 range would be better lol.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

Well went to the track again last weekend, Sat went out in the second round red lit, then on Sun my distributor rotor base came loose and ate itself, didn't have a spare and couldn't come up with one in time so winched it in the trailer and went home.

After a 5 min fix with the new part, truck is back running again, just have to put it up on stands yet and give underneath a look over make sure all looks good for next weekend.

Also did my crossover with my IHRA licence and now have my NHRA too, cage is also certified for both so good to go at both tracks now.

Couple pics as it sits, my new hood is on its way tracking est shows delivery on Monday.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

Well after a long wait and the usual shipping fiasco on a truck freight item, 6" cowl hood is on, still have to drill for my hood pins but here are some pictures.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

No my Uni filter fits fine, but my K&N won’t if I wanted to run it, unless I got a shorter element, I have a 3” and a 4”, a 2.5” might work.

When I ordered the hood I asked about height and was told it was 6” from back to around mid hood then tapered down, but it slowly tapers right away and is under 5” before mid hood. That’s fine anyway as I didn’t really want a 7”, the Uni has lot’s of room.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread

You might turn the Uni around. That's where your air will be coming from now.

Won’t fit backwards, but the Uni is open at the back too.
