16x8 6 lug wheels

Set of 6 freshly powder coated wheels. Asking $600 would prefer local pickup, but will ship if the cost of the boxes and packaging is covered.

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

Very interested pending answers to a couple questions. Can I get a pic of the tape measure in the wheel measuring the backspace? (maybe the end of the tape against the mounting surface and a straight edge across the back?)

16", correct? Who built these?

thanks,

Keith

Yes I can. I am at work, but had my buddy run by and measure. He is working on sending me a picture to post. He said from the flange to the back lip is 4"

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

These are a rare wheel that came on some factory blazers and 4x4 pickups. I don't know all the details, but I do know they are getting hard to come by. They are 16"

Thanks, Paul

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

looks like I can get boxes the exact size to hold 2. I can get 3 of them for $25, but I will have to order them, so it would take a few days before I could box them up. USPS quoted me 52.25 each box, must be because of the weight. UPS wants $54.61 per box. So shipping with box price would be $181.75 for USPS, or I can do UPS if you prefer them.

Nice looking wheels. Curious were these fabricated by someone.
Are these 16" or 16.5" diameter?

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

They are 16" wheels and are originals. From what I understand, they came on forest ranger trucks, blazers and some other options. Not sure about the whole history. They are exactly the same as the stock 16x6 that came on the 4x4's but these are 8"

Could you get a quote from UPS? I'm sure they would probably be cheaper. As far as being a few days, that's fine. I'm not in a hurry.

thanks,

Keith

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

UPS wanted a few dollars more than USPS. I put that in a few posts back. USPS wanted $52.25 per box that has 2 wheels in it. UPS wants $54.61 It is up to you who I use.
$781.75 With USPS
$788.83 With UPS
Remember there is $25 in there for the boxes

Ok. I'll get the payment over to you today. Wish I knew these existed. I paid $1200 for a set of 4 16 X 6's to be built for me a few months back. I ran them as 16 X 5's for a while, but that is just too narrow.

thanks,

Keith

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

I drove 300 miles to buy them last year. Ended up selling my blazer with some mickey's on it. Guy was not interested in the wheels and they are just getting in the way. Figured if i could get what I have into them and someone gets what they are looking for, we both win

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

Brian these are nice looking wheels and would look great on a truck for sure but I don't believe the factory every put a set of 16x8 wheels out for this era.

I don't want to impact your sale (excellent price btw) but for the purpose of everyone's education, including my own, I don't think these are Chev oem. I researched this for many months and actually just got a set myself fabricated to be 16x8's.

The only 16" 6 lug rim from GM for this era is a 5" skinny rim with the center riveted to the outer hoop. These were used on vehicles that were ordered with a higher ply bias tubed tire. For this era, they came with a similar looking center to yours from 63 -70 and a slightly different looking center with 4 nubs in 71 & 72. These were available on both K10 and Blazers.

I have attached an image borrowed from another thread of the option part numbers showing the list. Also note on the list that there isn't the popular 15x8" shown. This is because technically they were not a factory listed option. I think they were all post production or dealer installs.

Again, I am just putting this out there for information which is one of the big benefits of this forum.
Regardless the rims look great and the price also.

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

I see you made the payment. I will get boxes ordered and keep you up to date. Is the shipping address that showed up in your paypal email where you want them shipped to?

Re: 16x8 6 lug wheels

Ordered the boxes this morning. Wanted to measure the wheels again before I ordered them. I was a little off on what I estimated. I also forgot to add insurance in when I looked up shipping cost. I am going to cover that. I have had things happen in the past. I prefer to make sure both parties are covered.

With 16" wheels, 3 nubs fit disk brake trucks also. Not so with 15" wheels.
