Fuel Rail Fitting - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have done a lot of searching but cannot figure out for sure how these 6an to 3/8" and 6an to 5/16" fittings connect to the fuel rails. Below is a picture of a return style rail which I have and the other picture is the 6an fitting I want to use. My questions are, where do these male fittings connect to the fuel rails and what do I need to remove from the existing system as shown below (less the blue push on fitting)? Thanks.

you need ones like the blue fitting...its a pushlock to 6an fitting...one needs to be 5/16 the other is 3/8...........you don't need the fitting in your picture

That fitting in your picture will go to the WIX regulator/filter if you are running one of those. I used part number RUS-644113 (Summit part #) for the fuel rail (mine is return less)

Do yourself a favor and send those blue fittings back and get the kind that dont have the plastic quick connects. Those have been known to pop off and have resulted in several car fires. I dont know why they still sell those, they updated them to a fitting that has a screw on part that takes the place of the plastic retainer so that cant happen. That plastic quick connect is fine for factory fittings, but those aluminum ones they just dont fit well enough.

Who sells them or what brand are they? I may be searching the wrong description as I only found something somewhat similar from Earls at Speedways website but they were $40 each, yikes. Hoping there is a Jegs, Summit, ICT billet type brand available.

Anyone found a fitting that is hose end to pushlock? That way it bypasses the fitting shown in the first post. It just seems like an unnecessary piece. I've tried looking around before an don't think I ever found anything though.

Roaddog..are you looking for a pushlok to hose barb with hose clamps?...if so dont use that on a high pressure fuel system....

Like this. Hose end on one side and the push on to the fuel rail on the other side. I guess I never understood why they couldn't make a piece like that to keep from the extra adapter in between.

Just want to second what ls1nova71 said about ditching those fittings with the plastic clips.

I had one fail. It happened when the car was in the garage (not driving) so no fire.

I replaced them with the Russel fittings recommended.

I've been using them for a while and never had one leak. I did however have one of the push lock style fittings pop off at my tank. Luckily no thermal situations happened. I now run the screw on type.

I have read mutliple places that the russle screw on style leak ever so slightly. I used the plastic lock style on at the tank of mine. I may make some sort of lock for that style so they cant come off. I am hoping to use gm stainless quick connect fittings for the rest of my lines.
