Re: 47 Step van

Next is the outside vent and the inside slide closer. I riveted the outside vent I made and put a piece of screen and rubber gasket material between it and the body. That way the bugs will stay out. I made the inside slide closer out of aluminum sheet and some plywood edge material and TIG welded it all together. I used a piece of plastic material I had laying around for the slide to rest against. I need to get some foam weatherstrip to put on the backside to seal against the body. And then that will be another thing off the list.

Re: 47 Step van

I mounted the AC unit in the cut out in the bulk head. It is a vintage air unit which will cool and heat the front drivers area. I used some aluminum box tube for the front mount and some sheet for the rear mount. It come part easy if you have to get it out for any reason.

Re: 47 Step van

Last batch of pictures is the gas tank. I bought some pipe couplings and cut them in half for my bongs. I was cheaper that me making them. For the pickup lines , I used a pipe reducer which had a pipe tap hole on the outside end and then I tapped it on the opposite end so I could thread a pipe nipple in for the pickup tube. Then the other end has a inverted flare fitting on it for a flared fuel line. The 2 outside bongs are the pickup lines. The right hand one is for the motor and the left hand one is for the generator. I cut that one a little shorter, that way the generator will run out of gas before the truck does. The smaller inside ones are the return from the motor and the fill vent line. Next was to cut out a ring for the sending unit. I weld it in and transfer punched it for the holes. Then drilled and tapped for #10-32. Then cut down the sending unit so it fit for the tank depth. I have to mount it and make the filler tube. It is going in the factory spot. I am using the factory spout and cap.

Re: 47 Step van

Boy it has been a while since I have posted. I took a little time to widen my rear fenders on my dually because I bought new wheel and they did not tuck , so now the do!i have also been plugging away on the box truck too. I have the tank all finished up now, filler tube welded in. Painted it and put it in the mount and bolted it up beneath the truck. I also made the fuel filter and fuel pump mounts, and painted them too. I will be running the lines this weekend. I mounted the tranny cooler and bent the lines. I have the floor all bolted in along with the steering column and wheel. I have the wipers in also, just have to pull them up art and shorten the posts and shafts. Then grease the cable and that will be good to go. Then I had the fun of cutting in all the side marker lights front and back, it was a lot of grinding and filing. I had to make a stand off for the gas peddle to mount it to the bulk head. It is also mounted. So I have been rolling right along. I have an e brake handle and a lokar cable operated shifter coming. So here are a bunch of pictures.

Re: 47 Step van

Youngrodder, Thank you, the dually is the new daily. It is a slow project.

Oldman3, Thank you. Ken bought the red markers and I made the front amber ones. I think the style fits the truck.

Mud.man.rj, Thank you. This is going to be a working dog washing truck. It is going to be used. And I bet it will get a lot of attention.

99 to life, Thank you. Yes, I am back. It was crazy busy for about a month. I was working on both and would just check in quick.

I should have more pictures on Sunday. I have a lot of things I want to finish up. I picked up some SST sheet and box for the custom wash sink.

Re: 47 Step van

Jim, Yes buddy I am still alive. Thank you for checking, that means a lot. I would get on at work more, but have been busy there and can not get on as much. Then at home, my son Garrett is in baseball. In which I figure would give me some time to relax while taking him to practices and games so I could watch. But I ended up being asked to coach! I and you guys should know that I know nothing about sports! So my son and me are learning. We do have a fun though. So back to the important stuff, Yes I am still rolling right along on the truck. I have a bunch of pictures to post. I will post a bunch this weekend. I get frustrated when I post picture with the new way since you have to have them resized. It was so easy when I could do it right from my phone instead of photobucket. But they did it for space and I understand. But I liked when I could do 5 pictures with a write up. Now I can only seem to get 2 and that is with them resized. The truck should be soon going back to Maryland. Then Ken will finish wiring it and building what he has to in the inside of it. Then I am going to build the big stainless steel wash sink for the dogs. Then he can put it in and hook up and she can put it to work for her dog washing business. Then back on to the 51. Sometime I have to get the windows in the panel too. So much to do so little time. Thinking on cloning myself and send the clone to my day job and I can work on the cars/trucks.
