tailgate hinge lengths & size

So are tailgate hinges off later 70s square trucks the same as on '72s?
If have a set already off a '78 or such & it looks to be the same but wasn't for sure if I should use or not for whatever reason.

Re: tailgate hinge lengths & size

I don't know the answer but if you look at LMC catalog for 67-72 and 73-87 trucks and look for tailgate trunions you can find out if they have the same part numbers. And stepside or fleetside tailgates may make a difference.

Re: tailgate hinge lengths & size

I used one off a squarebody as it allowed a way for me to remove the tailgate without having to remove the trunion bolts. Had to modify the tailgate slightly to make it work.

Re: tailgate hinge lengths & size

I like the idea of square body trunions & ability to remove tailgate easier.

But I was actually talking about the length of these...
Square body ones are about an inch shorter & will not let tailgate lay flat when open.
