what do you guys/gals think

so i have realized that my E-Rod dreams probably arent going to happen for my 63. LS engines arent easy to come by around here and new ones are fairly pricey. i called a local salvage auto parts store and found the 5.3 Vortec motor for $850 and the ECM for $75 no wiring harness however kinda bothers me. these guys buy wrecked vehicles and strip down the useable parts to resale.

So my question is, do you guys think it is worth it to buy the engine. if so where do i find a harness? i have to get my drivetrain figured so i can start saving.
side note. i have decided to purchase a Porterbuilt front drop member and then enevtually the matching rear drop member to round out the suspension.
Thanks for your assistance!

How many miles are on that motor? A harness can be purchased ready to plug and play for around $500.00, I like PSI Conversions myself. the PCM can also be purchased for around that so their about right. If your motor has more than 100k, then that's too high IMO.

Too much IMO wait for a good ol boy parting one out. You should be able to pick one up complete and running for 500 ecm and wiring harness too. You may have to wait a while though.

Look for a donor vehicle and take all that comes with it and adapt to your truck.
