When does it rub? That's sometimes the cons of lowering.

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

It rubs a little when I make a tight turn.

Not that big of a deal but still kind of annoying

My bagged S-10 tires were really bad to rub the shocks and it drove my crazy! Lol

Where is it rubbing? Do you scrape the fender also?

Truck looks good. Do you have a pic of the coil spring spacer you used?

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

I used a 1/2" thick spacer I ordered from Summit Racing.

Found this pic online, and it looks exactly like the one I used. Spacer sits underneath the spring, on top of the lower control arm. The end of the coil fits into the "pocket" that is cast into the spacer.

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

Now that I got it lowered and some new wheels and tires, it time to start on the rest of the truck.

Gonna put on new bumpers, sport mirrors, and door handles. Want to polish the molding on the tailgate.

I need to do some work on the interior like replacing the pull straps and fixing the door panels.

I hope to get started on the body of this truck so I can paint this late summer / early fall.

Can't decide if I want to paint it back the original gray or a different red or blue.

Leaning towards Kinetic Blue Metallic (2013 + 1967 Hot Wheels Edition Camaro color) or Red Rock Metallic (new 2014-2015 GM color)...

Don't know which color would go better with a gray interior...

That blue is beautiful. Has a lot more flake than the pictures show

I didn't measure with a tape measure but I would guess it raised it 1"-1.5".

Doesn't look like it sits different but you can sure tell when you run your hand between the tire and inner fender!

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

Now that spring is here (thank the Good Lord) I can get this truck ready for paint!

Gonna freshen up the outside of the truck while I have it apart:

Bumpers
Weatherstrip
Mirrors
Door handles
Billet grill

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

Cool truck. Even cooler that it comes from family. I had an 81 3/4 T that same color that I bought from my uncle. Was a great truck. I vote for the gray, but I'm affected by nostalgia. Although most of the time, I really like the stock colors these trucks came in and this one's no exception. Good luck!

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

Time to resurrect the thread! Lol

Officially starting the tear down... Went to the garage with a load of parts and all my paint / materials.

Ended up going with TCP Global Custom Shop intense blue pearl.

Color looked good on Instagram and even better once it arrived and I got a lid off the can!

Re: Project: 50 Shades of Gr.... Nope I can't make myself do it

Got the bumper, tailgate, and bed off. Naturally, the bed bolts were rusty and the nuts fought until the bitter end. Ended up welding the bolts to the bed floor to keep them spinning. Got all the trim took off. Amazing shape for a 32 year old truck. No dents but could use some heavy polishing.

3 coats of paint stripper later, we’re taking the DA and some 80 grit to it.

Won’t take much bodywork... gotta weld up some trim clip holes and fill in a few ding dents.
